After years of enjoying camping with their horses, Steve and Carolyn Kokjohn recognized an opportunity to share their beautiful hometown of Farmington in Southeast Iowa with fellow horse enthusiasts. In a three year span, they converted an abandoned sand and gravel operation into a state of the art horse camping facility. uding modern or primitive sites. Accommodating of all sizes of rigs, River Valley Horsecamp offers private yet accessible camping spaces, complete with covered stalls, electric, water and wifi. The all new, climate controlled bath house will meet and exceed your expectations. River Valley offers three different camping cabins for you to rent. River Valley is located on the Des Moines River with a paved road for easy access, just one half mile from town, restaurants, grocery store and gas stations. If you enjoy trail riding, you will delight in the eight miles of always open trails, which borders 40 miles of Shimek State Forest established horse trails. River Valley also hosts a variety of western weekend events for your entertainment.
