We provide temporary care and placement for animals in need, adoption, low-cost spay/neuter services, and volunteer opportunities. Farmington Regional Animal Shelter (FRAS) provides temporary shelter, basic medical care and adoption and transfer opportunities to the animals of the four-corners region. Receiving close to 8,000 animals each year, FRAS looks for any possible owner then evaluates each

🇺🇸The 4th of July is just around the corner!🇺🇸

While celebrations can be fun for people, they can also cause risks for pets. Taking a few extra precautions can help keep your furry friends safe and secure.

Please make sure your pets are microchipped and that their information is up to date. If they become lost, having accurate information greatly increases the chances of a quick reunion.

If your pet does go missing, contact the shelter as soon as possible with your pet’s information- this helps us know who/what to keep an eye out for.

If there’s one word that perfectly describes Pal, it’s resilience. Through everything life has thrown his way, he has remained the sweetest, most gentle soul. His calm and easygoing nature makes him a wonderful companion, especially for other dogs who share his relaxed vibe.

Pal can be a little shy when meeting new people, but give him some time and patience, and you'll see him blossom into one of the kindest, most loving dogs you could ever meet. His quiet strength and gentle heart make him truly special.

Could you be Opie's forever family?

Opie is breaking our hearts. We thought he was off to a good life in a new home only to find him running the streets as a stray again. So he is back in the shleter, waiting for another turn at a successful adoption.

Opie is one of our friendliest residents - he loves other dogs and enjoys pets/scratches from anyone, old or young. He’s not recommended to be around cats.

Opie is a year-old hound/Shepherd mix. He currently weighs 43 pounds, but will need to gain some weight. He is very energetic and loves going outdoors at every opportunity. He would love a properly fenced in yard to run zoomies, a playful buddy to wrestle with, and/or an active family to take him for long walks on a leash. Opie will reward you with sweetness and affection and will not turn down an opportunity to snuggle up for a nap.

If you are interested in meeting Opie, we are open every day, 11:30-5:30pm. If you cannot adopt, please share his story or consider taking him for a day or a weekend out. One of our lovely fosters had him for a couple days and took these amazing pictures of him.

Right now, our kennels and cat rooms are overflowing with amazing pets who are dreaming of a family of their very own. They're ready to trade shelter life for backyard adventures, cozy naps, and endless love.

Just a quick reminder of the 3-3-3 rule when it comes to new adoptions:

3 days and they might be feeling overwhelmed and unsure of their new environment

3 weeks and they will begin to settle in and feel more comfortable

3 months and they will be building trust and bonding with you

It’s important to remember that it can be difficult for animals to be moved somewhere they are unfamiliar with, which is why it’s essential to maintain patience, understanding and love while they become used to their new surroundings.
