Happy Grandparents Day to two very special people — Mimi & Papa!

Texas Equine Education & Horsemanship™ simply would not be what it is today without them.

Behind so much of what we do are two people who have supported us, encouraged us, helped us, cheered us on, and been there through all the crazy ideas, long days, big plans, challenges, and accomplishments along the way.

They may not always be the ones you see in the arena or on our page, but their fingerprints are all over Texas Equine. Their love and support have helped make it possible for us to keep growing, teaching, creating, and sharing our love of horses with others.

To Shelby, they're Mimi & Papa. To Texas Equine, they're a very important part of the family behind everything we do.

We love you both more than we could ever put into words, and we appreciate everything you have done—and continue to do—for us.

Happy Grandparents Day, Mimi & Papa! 🥰

Today, we remember.

We remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001. We remember the families whose lives were forever changed. We remember the first responders who ran toward danger, the service members who answered the call in the years that followed, and the countless ordinary Americans who showed extraordinary courage, compassion, and strength.

Patriot Day is also a reminder of what brought our nation together in the face of unimaginable tragedy — neighbors helping neighbors, strangers caring for one another, and communities standing together.

At Texas Equine, we pause today with gratitude for those who serve, those who sacrifice, and those whose memories we continue to carry.

May we honor them not only by remembering what was lost, but by choosing kindness, service, courage, and unity in the way we care for one another.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

Throwback Thursday!

Long before there was a Texas Equine, there was Ginger.

This throwback takes us back to when Shelby was just 15, pictured here with Kim, Ginger, and baby Max. Max eventually went on to another owner before Texas Equine began, but the beautiful chestnut mare on the left is still right here with us today. ❤️

Ginger has been part of the story from the very beginning—before Texas Equine even had a name.

She was there while Shelby was growing up. She was there through the years of learning, riding, teaching, dreaming, and figuring out what the future might look like. And when Texas Equine Education & Horsemanship eventually came to be, Ginger became part of that story, too.

Today, she isn't simply one of the horses at Texas Equine. She is the heart behind so much of what we do and a living connection to where it all began.

It's pretty incredible to look at 15-year-old Shelby in this photo and realize she had no idea yet where horses—or that mare standing beside her—would eventually take her.

Some Throwback Thursday photos are more than memories. Sometimes, they're the beginning of a story that's still being written.

Happy Labor Day from Texas Equine!

Today, we’re celebrating some of the hardest-working people we know — our incredible staff, interns, and volunteers!

Behind every lesson, program, event, clean stall, filled water bucket, happy horse, and new idea is a team of people willing to roll up their sleeves and make it happen. Sometimes that means early mornings, Texas heat, muddy boots, horse hair on absolutely everything… and the occasional mystery stain we’ve all agreed not to ask about.

But more importantly, it means showing up with patience, kindness, dedication, and a genuine love for what we do.

Texas Equine simply wouldn’t be Texas Equine without the people who give their time, talents, energy, and hearts to our horses, our students, and our programs.

To our staff, interns, and volunteers — thank you for everything you do, both the things everyone sees and the countless little things they don’t.

We hope you get a chance today to relax, enjoy yourself, and know just how appreciated you are.

You are the heart of what we do.

Happy Labor Day!

This International Day of Charity, Texas Equine Education & Horsemanship would like to shine a spotlight on an organization doing incredible work for horses, donkeys, and the people whose lives they touch: All Seated in a Barn in Bakersfield, California.

All Seated in a Barn is a nonprofit equine rescue, sanctuary, rehabilitation, training, and intake facility dedicated to helping horses and donkeys in need—including animals at risk of entering the slaughter pipeline. Their work doesn't end with rescue.

Horses and donkeys coming into their care receive the medical attention, rehabilitation, training, and support they need before, whenever possible, finding the loving homes they deserve. Through community programs, they have also created opportunities for rescued horses to connect with and positively impact people—allowing healing and rehabilitation to work in both directions. ❤️

Organizations like All Seated in a Barn remind us what charity can accomplish when compassion becomes action.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
Rescue takes a community, and there are many ways to be part of that community. You can support All Seated in a Barn by donating, volunteering, helping provide needed supplies, supporting their ongoing rescue efforts, sharing their work, and helping more people discover the horses and donkeys waiting for their second chance. Even something as simple as following their page and sharing a rescue story can introduce their mission to someone new.

On International Day of Charity, we encourage our Texas Equine community to look beyond our own barn and recognize the people across the equine world who dedicate themselves to helping horses and donkeys in need.

Because sometimes changing the world starts with changing the world for just one horse.

In honor of World Beard Day, we couldn’t resist sharing this great photo of our neighbor aka Josh Brown, hanging out with Achilles. And really… when you have a beard like that, World Beard Day practically requires a post. 😂

Josh is the owner of Inspired Construction Solutions, providing construction and roofing services throughout North DFW and the surrounding communities.

Beyond being our neighbor, Josh represents something we appreciate about the people and businesses in our rural community: working hard, treating people right, and taking pride in what you do. Inspired Construction Solutions is built around a commitment to integrity, respect, excellence, and honoring God through their work—values Josh and his team strive to carry into every project. Reach out to Josh at www.icsgcinc.com for your next building adventure!

Achilles seems to approve, too. And frankly, we trust his judgment too. 😉

So today, we're celebrating beards, horses, good neighbors, and good people.

Happy World Beard Day from all of us at Texas Equine!

Apparently, the love of horses runs in the family!

This little cowgirl is Shelby’s Aunt Teresa as a child, already looking completely at home in the saddle. ❤️ And we thought this was an especially perfect photo to share today because it’s also Teresa’s birthday AND her anniversary! 🎂💍

So today, we get to celebrate a throwback, a birthday, an anniversary, and a lifelong member of our horse-loving family all at once!

From childhood pony rides to the horses that fill our days at Texas Equine now, some things just seem to come full circle. We love looking back at old family photos like this and seeing that horses were part of the story long before Texas Equine ever existed.

Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary, Teresa! We hope your day is filled with plenty of reasons to celebrate! ❤️

And in honor of Throwback Thursday, we want to see YOUR horse memories! Do you have an old childhood photo with a horse or pony? Drop it in the comments—we’d love to see it!

🐴📚 HORSE OF THE MONTH: SCOUT | HAPPY BACK TO SCHOOL! 📚🐴

The backpacks are packed, pencils are sharpened, and summer days are giving way to a brand-new school year! As students make that sometimes-not-so-easy transition from summer fun to getting back down to business and learning, everyone at Texas Equine is wishing you a wonderful start to the year.

And who better to help us kick off the school year than our Horse of the Month — Scout!

Scout is ready to trade summer vacation for a little learning, too. After all, we believe some of the best lessons don't always happen behind a desk. Horses can teach responsibility, communication, confidence, patience, problem-solving, and plenty of physical skills along the way.

We also want to send an extra special Happy Back to School to all of the students and families at Texas Homeschool Solutions! We hope this year brings lots of learning, growth, new adventures, and reasons to be proud.

And here's a reminder for our homeschool families: Texas Homeschool Solutions families receive a special discount at Texas Equine, making equine activities an option for helping satisfy their P.E. requirements.

Not with Texas Homeschool Solutions? We haven't forgotten about you! All homeschool students receive 10% off at Texas Equine. We love giving homeschool families another way to incorporate hands-on learning and physical activity into their school year.

Here's to fewer lazy summer mornings, more sharpened pencils, lots of new things to learn—and maybe a little horse hair on your school clothes. 😉

Happy Back to School from Scout and the entire Texas Equine herd!
