ā¼ļøTHE UPDATE WEāVE BEEN WAITING FOR!!!
THE āGRAVEL PITā DOGS ARE SAFE.
BOTH OF THEM. š„¹ā¤ļø
Jake, the yellow Lab, and Sophie, the black-and-white Pointer mix, are now in rescue.
They are out of the awful heat. They are sleeping in air conditioning. They have a soft place to lie down, a full tummy, clean water, andāmost importantlyāthey no longer have to wonder where their next meal or safe place to sleep will come from.
ā¤ļøāš©¹They are officially Cane Rosso Rescue dogs.
Getting them here and to this point was nothing short of a HERCULEAN effort.
This wasnāt a simple āgo pick up two dogsā rescue. So many awesome people worked to get them to safety.
The gravel pit is private property and requires an es**rt to enter. Access had to be coordinated, then secure private transport out of there and to the vet, work around the vet hospitalās business hours and availability, and get both dogs safely from the property to the hospital, which was a couple hours away.
ā¼ļøAnd thenā¦we had to do it all over again.
The plan was to take Jake and Sophie together. Jake got out safely outābut Sophie had disappeared.
Everyone searched and searched until she was finally located hiding underneath a makeshift trailer.
So the entire operation started all over again. We werenāt going to leave Sophie behind.
Access. Coordination. Transport. Vet availability. And finally, Sophie was safely in our care too.
š° Now comes the next part of their rescueāand itās an expensive one.
Both Jake and Sophie arrived needing immediate veterinary care. They need all vaccines, spay/neuter, heart-worm testing, flea/tick/heart-worm preventatives, deworming, medical-grade baths, and boarding at the veterinary hospital while all of this is completed.
š«” The price of getting two neglected dogs from āsurvivingā to truly ready for their second chance adds up quickly.
Weāre fundraising specifically for Jake & Sophie, and weāre asking our village to help give these two dogs the fresh start they so desperately deserve.
Every dollar donated goes toward getting these two dogs healthy, comfortable, and ready for the families who will eventually love them forever.
