🐾 KENNEL COUGH: LET’S KEEP OUR FURRY FRIENDS HEALTHY! 🐾
Attention, Falmouth Dog Park friends! 🐶❤️
We love seeing our four-legged friends running, playing, and making new buddies at the park! But we want to remind everyone about kennel cough, a highly contagious respiratory illness that can spread quickly wherever dogs gather.
The local veterinarians have been seeing a lot of it right now.
🐕 WHAT SHOULD YOU WATCH FOR?
🐾 A persistent, dry, hacking cough (sometimes sounding like a honking goose!)
🐾 Gagging or retching, especially after coughing
🐾 Sneezing or a runny nose
🐾 Low energy or decreased appetite
🚫 WHEN IN DOUBT, SIT IT OUT!
If your dog is coughing, sneezing, or showing any signs of illness, please keep them home and contact your veterinarian. Even dogs that seem perfectly happy and energetic can spread respiratory infections if they have one.
💉 A LITTLE PREVENTION GOES A LONG WAY!
Talk to your veterinarian recommended respiratory vaccinations. Vaccines can help reduce the risk and severity of illness, although they don’t prevent every case.
❤️ BE A GOOD NEIGHBOR — PROTECT THE WHOLE PACK!
If your pup has been diagnosed with kennel cough, please wait until your veterinarian advises that it’s safe to return to the dog park.
Our dogs share toys, water bowls, sniffing spots, and plenty of slobbery kisses. Let’s do our part to keep those shared experiences happy and healthy!
