The heart and soul of DeCoverly Upland Training made another trip around the sun this week, so we’d like to take a moment to wish Nick a very Happy Birthday! 🎂

Nick’s passion for dogs and genuine love for what he does are evident in every dog he works with and in the relationships he builds with the people who entrust their dogs to his care. From his team at DeCoverly to his clients in the field, we all know how fortunate we are to call Nick a friend.

Happy Birthday, Nick! Here’s to another year of great dogs, good birds, and an abundance of time doing what you love most. Cheers to you! 🧡🐾

The last of our summer puppies is officially heading home! 🐾💕

Before beginning her journey to Georgia with her new mom, she had a quick Puppy Head Start refresher with one of our obedience trainers, Sara. Sara walked her new mom through some of the training they’ve been working on together and shared a few tips to help keep things consistent as she settles into her new home.

We love these special go-home days and getting to send our puppies off with a great foundation for their next adventure. Safe travels to Georgia, sweet girl!

A great day in the field for Diana and her young dogs, Rain and Roxy, a couple weeks ago at the Weimaraner Club of Washington DC! Rain and Roxy placed 2nd and 3rd in their AKC Puppy Class Field Trial.

For those unfamiliar, an AKC Puppy Class Field Trial is designed for young dogs (usually 6+ months) to build confidence and showcase their natural hunting instincts. Puppies work through simulated field scenarios - land or water retrieves, scent trailing, and more - focused on instinct and enthusiasm rather than polished training. It’s a wonderful introduction to the sport and the foundation for future titles.

With spring hunt tests just a few months away, now is also a great time to talk to our upland trainer, Nick, about getting your dog started in AKC hunt test training!
