Fleas and ticks aren’t just a spring and summer problem — they’re a year-round concern, especially with the unusually warm winter temperatures we had experienced.

We’re seeing new flea cases every day, and ticks are still active as well!

The best protection is consistent, year-round prevention.
We offer several effective options, including topical and chewable.
If your pet is due for prevention or you’re unsure which product is right for them, give us a call — we’re here to help keep your pets healthy and protected!

Help your dog cope with unsettling situations

-Anxiety in dogs is seldom a simple diagnosis-

If your dog is nervous, and maybe even somewhat fearful at times, it’s wise to look deeply into what may be causing these behavioral issues and then devise a plan to help your dog become more confident. An anxious dog is an unhappy dog. You can change that by adding consistency and predictability to your dog’s life.

Here are a couple ways to ease your dog's anxiety at home
1. Stick to a routine
2. Have a plan for surprises
-Prepare a plan, such as putting the dog in another room or something similar, to get the dog out of the frightening situation.
3. Be sure your dog is crate-trained
4. Have a safe getaway plan in place

If you think the dog is suffering, if you are suffering or if your relationship with the dog is suffering, then anti-anxiety medications might be an option. Although medications might only be necessary while you're working on behavioral modification strategies, or they may be beneficial for the rest of your dog’s life. Rather than picking up an over-the-counter supplement or another other remedy from the Internet, schedule a visit with your veterinarian.

Remember that with or without medications, it is still essential to develop a routine for your dog to help give them a more predictable, happy life.

Signs of anxiety can include:
* Destructive behaviors
* Drooling
* Ears pulled down or back
* Excessive barking
* Licking lips
* Panting
* Shaking
* Whining
* Whites of the eyes showing

INTERNATIONAL RESCUE CAT DAY

Today, we celebrate International Rescue Cat Day, a day dedicated to the millions of incredible cats who have been given a second chance through rescue and adoption.

From tiny kittens to snuggly senior cats, rescue cats remind us every day that love doesn’t come with a price tag, just a purr. They may come from difficult beginnings, but with patience, care, and kindness, they blossom into loyal companions who fill our homes with warmth and personality.

If you’ve adopted a rescue cat, today is the perfect day to share their story and celebrate how far they’ve come. If you’re thinking about adding a feline friend to your family, why not visit our local Humane Society of Richardson County Inc., you might just meet your new best friend.

Here’s to the whiskered survivors, the brave hearts who save them, and the humans who open their homes to them. 🐱✨

Dental health is a very important part of your pet’s overall health, and dental problems can cause, or be caused by, other health problems.

Your pet’s teeth and gums should be checked at least once a year by your veterinarian for early signs of problems and to keep your pet’s mouth healthy.

Have your pet’s teeth checked sooner if you observe any of the following problems:

-Bad breath
-Broken or loose teeth
-Extra teeth or retained baby teeth
-Teeth that are discolored or covered in tartar
-Abnormal chewing, drooling, or dropping food from the mouth
-Reduced appetite or refusal to eat
-Pain in or around the mouth
-Bleeding from the mouth
-Swelling in the areas surrounding the mouth

Some pets become irritable when they have dental problems, and any changes in your pet’s behavior should prompt a visit to your veterinarian.
