U.S. CATTLE REPORT 📊 NWS Unlikely to Impact Cattle Supplies or Beef Production (Peel) 📊

According to Derrell Peel, the confirmation of New World Screwworm (NWS) in Texas removes one source of uncertainty that has been hanging over cattle markets for months and allows the industry to focus on the reality of managing the outbreak. While NWS will create costs and management challenges for affected producers and require significant efforts to contain and eradicate, Peel does not expect major impacts on cattle or beef markets.

📊As Peel stated, "NWS will affect relatively few animals and is not something that will affect the cattle supply or beef production." 📊

He also noted that NWS is not a food safety issue and will not impact meat supplies. Although questions remain regarding trade reactions, including Canada's temporary restrictions on Texas livestock and the continued closure of the Mexican border, Peel believes the effects of NWS will be primarily local, with no significant disruptions expected to cattle supplies, beef production, or broader market fundamentals.
