Meet Toto — a Fun-Loving Cairn Terrier Looking for His Next Adventure
Toto is a 5-year-old neutered male cairn terrier with lots of personality, energy, and love to give. He is looking for a new home where he can be happy, secure, and enjoy all the things he loves most.
Toto’s current family is making the difficult decision to rehome him because he has developed a strong interest in a neighbor’s pet rabbit. He has managed to escape twice in an effort to “visit” his furry neighbor, so his owners feel that finding him a home with secure boundaries and careful supervision is in everyone’s best interest.
Despite this mischievous streak, Toto has many wonderful qualities. He loves people, cuddles, walks, travel, swimming, and spending time in his fenced yard. He is happiest when he can be with his people and is accustomed to having someone home with him much of the time. Toto also loves other dogs and peacefully co-exists with a Maine C**n cat.
Toto is a high-energy boy who enjoys having things to do and places to explore. He is surprisingly strong for his 14 pounds and loves strenuous hikes. He is accustomed to walking on a long leash, so he can pull and will benefit from continued leash training. He knows commands including “no,” “stop,” and “go for a walk.”
He is also an enthusiastic door-dasher and loves his freedom, so his new family will need to be diligent about keeping doors and gates secure. A securely fenced yard would be ideal, along with supervision whenever he is outdoors.
Toto is housebroken and up to date on his vaccinations. He has mild Type I von Willebrand disease, a clotting disorder, but dogs with this form can have a normal lifespan with appropriate care. His complete veterinary records will be provided to his new family.
