Meet Reginald!

You are NOT prepared for how quickly this absolute meatball with the crooked smile will steal your heart.

Reginald is a little over four years old, weighs just over 50lbs, and he's an American bulldog mix. We don't know much about him prior to his arrival at the shelter unfortunately but we do know he's been an absolute gentleman while he's been here!

While the circumstances surrounding his arrival are a bit of the mystery, one thing is very, very clear - Reginald is 1000% a certified good boy. He's an even-tempered, mild-mannered guy. He does well on a leash and hardly pulls at all, enjoys his walks, hasn't shown much interest in toys oddly enough, and knows "sit"...sort of. If he sees that you have something in your hand, he knows that he has to sit in order to get it, but we don't think he knows the actual command.

Reginald has done well with other dogs. He's been bonked with their cones, been thoroughly sniffed and investigated, followed around, and he's just been happy to participate! Similarly, during his cat test, he had one of our crankier cats going full angry cat mode and he remained entirely unbothered, in his lane, and minding his business. Since we don't have a history of him with kids, we would prefer kids 12+.

The only thing that Reginald has really shown strong feelings about? His snacks. If he has a snack or a treat, he will play keep away, spin in circles, and turn himself into a pretzel to keep you from taking it from him.

***SPONSORED ADOPTION FEE - YOU PAY NOTHING***

Still here four months later.

Is Calamity a large dog? Yup. She's a 78lb catahoula leopard dog mix. She's a large lady but she KNOWS that she's a large lady. She's not a bull in a china shop, she's not chaos incarnate, she's not the ringleader of a three-ring circus that's on fire. Despite her name, she's a polite, even-tempered girl with actual MANNERS. She's definitely a sporty girl and she's athletic and will need regular exercise but she's not the kind of dog to parkour off of you or bounce off of the walls.

Calamity is about 5.5 years old so she's full grown and a mature, responsible adult...she would pay taxes if she could. She's extremely intelligent, knows her cues, and she's fantastic on a leash, especially for a girl of her size. She LOVES toys and will literally play fetch with herself...but not so much traditional fetch with her humans. She's an attention-seeker and LIVES for attention from people once she's comfortable with them. It CAN take her some time to warm up to strangers so multiple meet and greets here at the shelter will be required. We would also prefer a family with a fenced-in yard and a household that doesn't often have other people over for this reason.

Calamity does NOT like cats and she's choosy about the dogs she gets along with - she seems to much prefer male dogs over female dogs. We're asking that any kids in the home be 12+ just because Calamity was found as a stray so we have very little history on her and don't know if she's ever been around children.

Calamity is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. She's also been tested for heartworm, lyme, anaplasmosis, and ehrlichia and is negative for all four.

Just in time for fall...

Meet Candy Corn!

Are you looking for the sort of companionship that's quiet, calm, and steadfast? The kind that means sharing your space with someone without being glued to each other at all times? The kind that means peacefully coexisting and just taking comfort in the fact that you both know the other is there?

Candy Corn might be your girl.

This sweet 1yo lady came to us with a number of other cats from an unhealthy situation. All of the cats were battling upper respiratory infections, none of them had seen a vet in years (if ever), and they had no idea what to expect from people. They weren't used to being touched or spoken to. They huddled in corners and hid their faces like if they tried hard enough, they could make the rest of the world disappear.

Candy Corn has come a long, long way. She's still a quiet, reserved lady. She won't be the first one to greet you in the community cat room. She prefers her quiet corners and cozy nooks. She seems to do best around other cats, so we would prefer that there be at least one other cat in the home...or she could go home with one of her friends! She wouldn't do well with dogs or small children.

But...

She's actually starting to play. She's been with us for about a month and a half and it's the first time any of us have seen her engage. She's the kind of girl that will accept pets and attention when she feels like, otherwise she'll just scurry away, but playing with a wand toy? That's a HUGE step for her and we're so proud at how far she's come!

If you have the space to share, the love to give, and the patience to help her feel safe, come meet Candy Corn.

How has NO ONE applied for this girl?! Not a single application, phone call, nothing.

What? How? WHY?

Mandy is a velcro pup. She'll glue herself to you and never leave. She enjoys her walks at a brisk dawdle but would much rather be in your lap or curled up next to you, as long as she's touching you somehow. She loves being with people more than she loves anything else. You wanna carry her around? Sure. You wanna use her as a tiny weighted blanket? Okay!

She's also nosier than your vavó - if something is happening, she NEEDS to be involved.

She's a spry ten years old and weighs a whopping 10lbs. She would do well with other dogs, cats, and older kids.

Just don't touch her toes.

That feeling when the shy baby who came in absolutely terrified of life plays with you for the first time...🥹

Candy Corn, 1yo female. Would do best in a home with other cats but no dogs or children.

She probably won't snuggle with you but she'll play with you!
