🐾 Hometown roots. A warm welcome. Meet Dr. Sarah McKenzie!

We’re so excited to welcome Dr. McKenzie to Fairview Animal Clinic! A true Middle Tennessee native, Sarah grew up in Dickson and is thrilled to be practicing close to her hometown, serving the people and pets of our community. 💙

A 2008 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, she has spent her career caring for pets in small animal practices throughout Middle Tennessee. Her interests include internal medicine, preventive care, and building lasting relationships with pets and their humans—a wonderful fit for our personalized approach to care!

Outside the clinic, Sarah is happiest spending time with her husband, Pat, their children, Aidan, Randall, and Iris, and their dog, Waylon. She also enjoys hiking and baking with her kids.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. McKenzie to the FAC family! We can’t wait for you to meet her. 🐶🐱

☀️ Thinking about skipping your pet’s preventions this fall/winter??? Guess again… Here’s why.

Here in Tennessee, we can still experience days reaching 75°F or warmer in December, giving fleas and ticks plenty of opportunities to remain active. And mosquitoes, do they ever go away???

Even when temperatures briefly drop:

🐾 Fleas can survive inside warm homes
🐾 Tick activity may resume whenever temperatures rise
🐾 A few cold days are not enough to eliminate parasite populations
🐾 Skipping doses can leave gaps in your pet’s protection
🐾 Fleas and ticks can transmit disease and cause serious health problems

Southern winters are simply too mild and unpredictable to rely on cold weather for parasite control. That’s why we recommend keeping dogs and cats on veterinarian-approved flea and tick prevention every month, all year long.

Consistent protection is much easier—and safer—than treating an infestation or tick-borne illness later!

📞 Contact Fairview Animal Clinic if you need help choosing the right year-round prevention for your pet.

🐾 Adopt a Less Adoptable Pet Week 🐾

Sometimes the very best pets are the ones who get overlooked. ❤️

Senior pets. Pets with medical needs. Shy or fearful pets. Tripods. Black cats. Bonded pairs. Pets who have simply been waiting a little longer for someone to choose them.

They may be considered “less adoptable,” but we think they’re just waiting for the right person to see how special they are.

This week, we encourage you to look twice at the pet sitting quietly in the back of the kennel, the senior with a gray muzzle, or the cat who needs a little extra time to warm up.

They may require a little more patience or care—but they have just as much love to give. 🐶🐱❤️

If you’re thinking about adding a new member to your family, consider giving an overlooked pet the chance they’ve been waiting for.

Sometimes the pet no one else chooses becomes the one you can’t imagine living without. 🐾
