You don’t see too many off-leash recalls where dogs are being called off squirrels, and you see even fewer Great Danes recalling off of anything! Great Danes are great dogs, but they aren’t exactly known for flashy obedience or impressive recalls.
I believe it’s important to train “in drive” because the state of mind your dog is in when chasing a squirrel is the same state of mind they’ll be in when you really need the recall. If you can get speed and a zero-latency response to the recall, everything else you want to train will fall into place.
We teach the recall—and really everything else—differently than the other trainers, which is why we get different (better) results.
