I recently got to spend some time with this cutie for pet sitting, and I couldn’t resist sharing that adorable face! 😍

One of my favorite parts of Kiana’s Kritters is getting to know each pet individually. Some want ALL the attention, some need a little extra time to warm up. And some would prefer that I provide my services without acknowledging their existence whatsoever. 😂🐱

Unfortunately, the evidence against them is overwhelming. 😂

What are they being charged with?
🗑️ Trash can burglary
🧦 Grand theft sock
🍕 Food theft
🛋️ Destruction of property
🐿️ Harassing local wildlife
🍗 Counter surfing
🚪 Escaping custody
📢 Disturbing the peace
😾 Assaulting the veterinarian
🚽 Unauthorized toilet drinking

🐱🚽 What is your cat’s litter box telling you?

Cleaning the litter box definitely isn’t the glamorous part of being a cat parent. 😷

But your cat’s litter box habits can sometimes give you important clues about their health.
Keep an eye out for changes like:

❌ Going to the litter box much more or less frequently
❌ Straining
❌ Crying or vocalizing while using the box
❌ Suddenly urinating outside the litter box
❌ Blood in the urine or stool
❌ Significant changes in stool
❌ Repeatedly entering the litter box without producing much—or anything

🚨 Especially important: A cat that is repeatedly trying to urinate but producing little or no urine needs prompt veterinary attention. Urinary obstruction can become life-threatening, particularly in male cats.

And remember:
A cat suddenly going outside the litter box isn’t necessarily “being bad.”
Medical problems, stress, litter-box preferences, or environmental changes can all contribute.

‼️ Pay attention to changes and contact your veterinarian if you’re concerned.

For many older adults, a dog is much more than a pet—they are a companion, a source of comfort, and an important part of the family. We know that keeping a beloved pet healthy and well cared for can sometimes be a financial challenge, which is why Marion County Senior Citizens, Inc. is proud to offer our Pet Assistance Program. 🐕💙

Through our Pet Assistance Program, eligible Marion County seniors age 60 and older may receive assistance with pet-related needs, including:

🐾 Veterinary care assistance – up to $300
🐾 Pet food and supplies
🐾 Flea and tick prevention
🐾 Cat litter and other essential supplies
🐾 Leashes and other basic pet necessities
🐾 Grooming assistance

Our program is made possible through the Meals on Wheels Loves Pets Grant, helping us support seniors and their beloved companions.

Because sometimes the best way to support a senior is to support the one who is always by their side. 🐶❤️

LET’S TALK ABOUT MATTING!

Mats aren’t just a cosmetic issue. Severe matting can be uncomfortable and may hide skin problems underneath the tangled coat.

Mats can develop from:
Lack of regular brushing
Moisture trapped in the coat
Friction from collars or harnesses
Certain coat types
Seasonal shedding

Regular brushing and professional grooming can help prevent serious matting. If your pet is already severely matted, please don’t try to cut the mats out with scissors at home. Skin can easily be caught in a mat, which can result in serious injury.
When in doubt, reach out to a professional groomer for advice. ❤️

🐾 CHECK THOSE PAW PADS!

🐾❤️ When was the last time you checked your pet’s paw pads?

We pay attention to nails, ears, teeth, and coats—but don’t forget those toe beans!

Your pet’s paws go through a LOT every day.
Regularly take a look for:

🤕 Cracks or cuts
🌿 Debris or objects between the toes
🔴 Redness or irritation
🩸 Injuries
😋 Excessive licking or chewing
✂️ Overgrown hair around/between the pads
👀 Swelling or other unusual changes

☀️ During warmer weather, don’t forget about hot pavement either! ☀️

If your pet suddenly starts limping, excessively licking one paw, or appears painful, take a look at those feet and contact your veterinarian if something seems wrong.

A quick paw check only takes a minute!
