End-of-summer heat is no joke for dogs.
Dogs don’t cool down the way we do, so hot weather can become dangerous quickly—especially during exercise, outdoor play, or time in a warm car.

Know the warning signs:

Heavy panting • Excessive drooling • Bright red gums • Wobbly legs • Confusion or disorientation • Suddenly slowing down or refusing to move
If you think your dog is overheating:

1️⃣ Get them somewhere cool.

- Move them into the shade or air conditioning and stop all activity.

2️⃣ Start cooling them down.

- Use cool water on their belly, paws, and neck. Offer small amounts of water if they’re willing to drink. Avoid ice-cold water or ice packs.

3️⃣ Call your vet and head in.

- Even if your dog seems better, overheating can cause serious internal damage that you can’t see.

And for our Seven Acres families, you can rest easy knowing we plan around the heat. Our dogs get their outdoor exercise in the cooler morning hours, then spend the day comfortably inside our 70° kennel.

Your dog’s safety is always part of our plan. 🐾

These two have reached for the stars and started a new phase in their journey as GRADUATES! 🌙

Murphy and Kahlo worked hard these last three weeks, taking on new goals and challenges each week. We’re so proud of all they’ve accomplished with their new set up skills.

Daycare isn’t right for every dog. For those who enjoy attending, a good group offers real benefits: dogs burn energy, practice settling between exercise, and enjoy physical and mental enrichment. They meet new dogs, hear new sounds, experience new situations, and learn that these things are no big deal.

That back-and-forth—revved up and then calm—is a skill, and dogs get better at it with practice. 🐾

Our team watches for the moment a dog needs a break and provides it before anyone has to ask. That’s the difference between a tired dog and an overstimulated one.
