📚🐰 Storytime is always better with a bunny!

Bun-Bun had a wonderful time at the Dixon Public Library for our Read to a Shelter Pet program, where Officer Morris shared stories, smiles, and plenty of bunny snuggles. 💙

Reading to shelter pets helps build confidence in young readers while giving our animals some relaxing one-on-one attention. We'd say Bun-Bun was all ears for every page! 🥕📖

Want to meet Bun-Bun or one of our other amazing adoptable pets? Hop on over to the shelter!

🚨 We Need Our Community's Help 🚨

Recently, Animal Control responded to a seizure case involving an extraordinary number of large-breed dogs. Our kennels were already full before they arrived, pushing our shelter beyond capacity. To make room for the daily influx of stray animals, we had to find temporary housing options throughout Solano County for some of these dogs.

Now, we need your help.

🆘️Found a pet? Keep as long as possible to find owner before bringing to the shelter. Email a found report to [email protected]

🏡 REDEEM – If you recognize your pet, or someone you know is missing a pet, please reach out immediately. We have programs available to help reunite pets with their families and make bringing them home as easy as possible.

❤️ ADOPT – Every adoption opens a kennel for another animal in need. When you adopt, you're not just saving one life—you create space for the next pet that has nowhere else to go.

🐾 FOSTER THROUGH A RESCUE – While we're not actively seeking direct shelter fosters at this time, we encourage anyone interested in fostering to contact a local rescue group. When a rescue pulls an animal into its program, it frees up valuable kennel space while giving that pet the care it needs.

Every kennel matters. Every adoption matters. Every reunion matters.

🐾 **Happy National Feral Cat Day!** 🐾

Not every cat is meant to live indoors, and that’s okay! 💚

Feral cats are community cats who may not be socialized to people, but they still have a place in our communities and deserve compassionate, humane care.

🐈 **So, what can we do to help?**

🌿 **TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return):** Humanely trapping, spaying or neutering, vaccinating, and returning community cats to their outdoor homes helps prevent unwanted litters and supports healthier colonies.

✂️ **Look for the ear tip!** A small, straight cut across the tip of a cat’s ear is the universal sign that a community cat has been spayed or neutered. It helps prevent unnecessary re-trapping and allows caretakers to identify cats who have already received these services.

💚 **Respect their nature:** Many feral cats thrive outdoors in familiar territory. Relocating them unnecessarily can be stressful and dangerous, especially when they are established in a colony.

The goal isn't to eliminate community cats. It's to manage colonies humanely, prevent population growth, reduce nuisance behaviors, and improve the lives of the cats already living among us.

Every cat deserves compassion, whether they're curled up on your couch or keeping watch over their outdoor territory. 🐈💚
