She needs a proper introduction to other dogs but is also heartworm positive so will need to be kept calm during her recovery period. Help Us Continue Our Lifesaving Work at Our New Adoption Center!

Every week dogs and cats seeking a second chance for a loving home are cared for by our Center staff and volunteers. They are greeted with love and given basic medical care. Select dogs receive training and experience playdates. Our Adoption Center is where so many animals meet their fosters and adopters for the first time. Where volunteers sit with dogs in Peace Out rooms for much needed calm quiet time. Where cats will stay in our Meow Palace and enjoy a cageless, bright space to live temporarily. Where volunteers meet dogs for Tails Out day and overnight trips. The Homeward Trails Adoption Center plays a vital role in our lifesaving work.

We are excited for the opportunities our new Fairfax location provides us. This newer, safer, brighter space will continue all the great work our Adoption Center is known for. We’re also looking forward to a new fenced outdoor space for our dogs to enjoy, and a beautiful garden that will make it feel like home.

Our new space offers many opportunities for naming and sponsorships that will provide needed financial support for our programs and offer unique and heartfelt options for our supporters to honor a loved one – two and four-legged. Sponsorships are a wonderful way to save lives and celebrate an animal or human through a sign, plaque, garden stone or other on-site visible recognition.

We need YOU to make it a success. Chili Bingo will be held in Arlington on Saturday, October 3rd from 6-9pm. At a NEW LOCATION!! Lyon Village Community House! This popular event has historically sold out, so get your tickets early!!

WE NEED HELP COLLECTING DONATIONS AND SUPPLIES!
1. Do you have an item, a vacation home, an experience to donate? Are you willing to ask your favorite restaurant or store to help? Our silent auction allows 100% of all funds raised to go directly to the animals. No item or experience is too small. Happy Ginger Cat Appreciation Day!

🧡 Orange cats: proof that you don’t need a single brain cell to be absolutely fabulous. 🧡

Orange cats are affectionate, ridiculous, dramatic, and somehow always involved in whatever you’re doing—even when “whatever you’re doing” is trying to use the bathroom alone.

They will:
🍊 Yell at you for food 12 minutes before dinner
🍊 Sprint through the house for absolutely no reason
🍊 Fall off the couch and act like it was intentional
🍊 Sit directly on the thing you need

Our Adoption Center & Trails Home Farm are meant to be first stops, not forever homes. But right now, too many dogs have been waiting there for weeks. Dogs thrive in homes, not kennels — and after 2 weeks, it’s time to get them out. Starting this Tuesday and every Tuesday after, we’re spotlighting dogs who urgently need adopters or fosters NOW. These are our longest residents. They’re safe, loved, and ready… but nothing replaces a family.

1 foster/adopter = 2 lives saved. When you foster or adopt a Priority Pack dog, you don’t just change their life — you open a kennel for a shelter dog facing euthanasia. 4)Maya/42lbs/3 years/spayed. Loves to socialize with dogs but prefers to be the only pet in the home. She hasn’t met kids yet but has loved everyone she has met. She was scared of cats and would do best with a dog social cat.

5)Kai/80lbs/5 years/Neutered. Good with kids 10+. Loves to socialize with other dogs but prefers to be the only pet in the home.

6)Patrick/55lbs/4 years/ Neutered. Good with kids 14+. Patrick would prefer to be the only pet in the home.

7)Flounder/55lbs/2 years/Neutered. We haven’t seen him with kids but he may knock over younger kids with his excitement. Flounder would do best as the only pet in the home.
