Fairfax County Animal Services (FCAS) delivers compassionate, high-quality care for animals and works with the community to advance their safety and well-being. FCAS operates two state-of-the-art, open-access sheltering campuses, providing individualized care to approximately 4,000–5,000 animals each year. We provide comprehensive support for pets and the community, offering adoption and stray reu

nification services as well as volunteer, foster, and community cat programs. In addition, FCAS delivers animal control and public safety response, conducts humane investigations of animal cruelty, and offers community-based assistance to help pets remain safely with their families. This work and commitment are reflected in the work of our highly trained staff, volunteers, and foster caregivers, alongside community members who share our belief that all animals deserve compassion, dignity, and safety.

Benz spent three months looking for his family, but little did he know they were so close!

Benz’s new mom is a familiar face at FCAS as both a regular dog‑walking volunteer and a previous adopter. Last month, she met Benz during one of her volunteer shifts and instantly fell in love with him. Benz fit into the family like the perfect puzzle piece they'd been searching for. 🧩

He absolutely adores his new sister, and they spend their days sunbathing on the porch in a soft, sweet snuggle. Congratulations to Benz and his new family! 🎉

If there’s a heart that needs fixing or a hot dog that needs eating, Sirius is on the case! 🔎🌭

6-year-old Sirius brightens every room he enters. You can't help but smile at his goofy demeanor and upbeat attitude, somehow making even tripping over his own paws look effortlessly adorable. He’s looking for a home that shares his enthusiasm for both life and snacking. He’s polite when meeting other dogs and may enjoy having another dog in the home for company. Bring your dog to meet him!

Virginia residents can bring Sirius home on a five-day Adoption Audition.

Sirius is waiting for his new family at our Michael R. Frey Campus. Read more about him at fairfaxcounty.gov/animalservices/adopt.

Is it just us, or are we seeing double? 😵‍💫

Princess Star and Stella Rose may look alike, but they’re about as different as two cats can be. And they make it work perfectly! Stella Rose is confident, bold, and unabashedly herself. She’s the first to greet when you open the door and the last to say goodbye when you leave.

If Stella Rose is the sun, then Princess Star is the moon. ☀️🌙

Princess Star is your comrade in calmness. Your partner in peace. While her love isn’t as loud and flashy as her sister’s, it’s just as warm and comforting.

Princess Star and Stella Rose are looking for a home that can keep them together to maintain their perfect balance. Since they’re a bonded pair, you only pay one adoption fee.

Meet Princess Star and Stella Rose at our Lorton Campus today! Read more at fairfaxcounty.gov/animalservices/adopt.

Snowball is all about peace, love, and chill vibes. ❄️😎

Snowball is a 3-year-old cat with an old soul. You’re more likely to find her sunbathing in the window than chasing toys or climbing cat trees. YOU can go enjoy the summer heat. SHE will be watching her cat TV from her favorite spot on the couch.

And don’t leave the door open too long, it lets the hot air in.

She lived with another cat before and may be open to sharing the home with another cool cat like herself.

Meet Snowball at our Michael R. Frey Campus! Learn more at fairfaxcounty.gov/animalservices/adopt.

Have you ever seen a fish with a receding hairline? Try not to stare, Bucket is clearly a little self‑conscious about it.

But what he lacks in hair, he more than makes up for in personality. Bucket is a big, energetic Midas Cichlid who got his name from his absolute devotion to the bucket in his aquarium. It is his safe space. His fortress. His… well, his bucket.

If you're looking for a lively aquatic companion with tons of character and a signature look, Bucket is ready to swim into your life.

See him at our Michael R. Frey Campus! Learn more about Bucket at fairfaxcounty.gov/animalservices/adopt.

If the word “devoted” came to life, we’re pretty sure it’d be Amber Lynn. 💕

At only 3 years old, Amber Lynn's never encountered a person she doesn’t like, a treat she won’t eat, or a patch of grass that doesn't need sniffing. She only recently discovered the joys of swimming and even made a few fish friends while on an outing with her foster family. 🐟

She also discovered the words “stinky” and “covered in mud” are secretly synonyms for bath time... 🛁

In early March, Amber Lynn gave birth to a beautiful, healthy litter of puppies while in her foster home. She’s spent the last few months dutifully raising her puppies before helping them find their new homes. Now, she’s ready for her turn!

Virginia residents can take Amber Lynn home for a five-day Adoption Audition. Learn more about Amber Lynn and how to meet her at fairfaxcounty.gov/animalservices/adopt.
