"Do your dogs get cold in the winter?" The answer is no. They get hot in the summer ☀️ check out Lady's cave. She does a little housekeeping everyday, rearranging the "furniture" to stay comfortable! That rake is over 3ft long and went halfway. I encourage them to go underground. We have discontinuous permafrost below and the dogs stay cooler down there!

Sharing a little bit of the homestead lifestyle! Today was filled with picking porcupine quills out of a pups nose, raspberries, fireweed leaves for fireweed tea, and continuing with our resin 4 leaf clovers 🍀 beautiful evening before the rain storm we are expecting!

We are excited to offer a new tour for winter 2026-2027: afternoon snowshoe with hors d'ouervres and hot chocolate ☕️ This tour will encompass a nature hike through the boreal forest by local guides with a focus on the flora and fauna of interior Alaska.
Will operate November to April with a temperature of -10F and above. Families and small groups are welcome!

Howling Bay Kennel is a family oriented tour company that offers Sleddog and Northern Lights Tours.

We had our last run of the season on sleds this morning. This was a training run with smaller teams. Id like to extend a Thank you to all of our friends, supporters, and guests from all over the world that took the time to visit with us this winter season! May you all enjoy your summer and soak in some sun!
As we roll into the month of May we will be prepping for the transition to summer tours. I, Tabitha run the summer tours and welcome our new guests!
