Dog Training Club of Chester County (DTCCC) The Dog Training Center of Chester County is a nonprofit dog training center based in Exton PA. Classes teach force free, positive reinforcement training.

DTCCC offers a large variety of dog training classes including Basic Manners pet classes, Kindergarten Puppy Training (KPT), Advanced Manners, Obedience, Agility, Flyball, K-9 Nosework, Freestyle, Rally-O, CGC/TDI, Clicker skills, Treibball, Show Handling and more. There is something for everyone. DTCCC is open to the public. Our instructors are CPDT certified professionals. The center is large, easily accessible and climate controlled. Classes are fun and use positive reinforcement and science-based techniques to help handlers develop a bonded relationship with their canine friend that will last a lifetime. 🐾 NEW CLASS — Agile Pups!

Have a puppy who might be a future agility star? Give them a head start!

Agile Pups is a 6-week class designed especially for puppies and young dogs ages 3–11 months. Through fun, motivational games, you’ll begin building the skills your puppy will need for agility while developing an enthusiastic training partner.

You and your pup will work on:

🐾 Teamwork, play, motivation, and focus
🐾 Body awareness and coordination
🐾 Self-control
🐾 Foundation handling skills
🐾 Beginning obstacle skills
🐾 Simple tricks and behaviors that build learning skills for both puppy AND handler

Your puppy will also get an age-appropriate introduction to agility equipment such as travel boards, wobble boards, tunnels, tires, tables, and low jumps.

For puppies up to 16 weeks, attending Kindergarten Puppy Training (KPT) is strongly recommended.

🐾 NEW CLASS — Copy That!

Did you know your dog can learn new behaviors simply by watching and imitating YOU?

Copy That! introduces you and your dog to a fun and innovative training technique known as the “Do As I Do” method, developed by Dr. Claudia Fugazza and based on research into dogs’ social cognitive abilities.

Instead of always asking your dog to follow a traditional cue, you’ll become part of the lesson! Your dog will learn to observe an action you perform and then copy what you did.

The method works especially well with behaviors involving objects, so come prepared to get creative, have some fun, and discover a whole new way of communicating with your dog!

If your dog has completed Level 1, it’s time to build on those skills and take your training to the next level!

Beyond Basics: Level 2 focuses on developing a more responsive, reliable, and confident canine companion while gradually adding new challenges and distractions.

You and your dog will continue working on:

🐾 Attention and focus
🐾 Self-control
🐾 Loose-leash walking
🐾 Polite greetings
🐾 Reliable recalls
🐾 Sit, down, and waiting until released

You’ll also add new skills to your training toolbox, including hand signals, targeting, stand for examination or grooming, and using a reward marker.

Our Therapy Dog Prep class is designed to help advanced teams build the skills and confidence needed to prepare for a variety of therapy dog evaluations.

You and your dog will work on real-world skills commonly encountered during therapy visits, including:

🐾 Calmly meeting people, including in crowds and around medical equipment
🐾 Resisting offered food and items on the floor
🐾 Reliable stays and recalls
🐾 Polite, loose-leash walking
🐾 Working calmly through distractions
🐾 Appropriate interactions around other dogs

From brand-new puppies learning their first skills to dogs ready to take their training to the next level, we have several manners classes starting in September.

KINDERGARTEN PUPPY TRAINING

Perfect for getting your newest family member off to a great start with early training, socialization, handling, and important puppy-life skills.

BASIC MANNERS – LEVEL 1

Good manners make life with your dog better!

Whether you have an older puppy, an adult dog, or a newly adopted dog, Basic Manners – Level 1 will help you build the skills you need for a happier, more cooperative life together. No previous training is required.

Designed for puppies 8 months and older and adult dogs, this 6-week class introduces positive reinforcement training techniques, effective canine communication, and the basic manners and self-control every dog should learn.

You’ll work on:

• Name & attention
• Loose leash walking
• Meeting and greeting
• Sit
• Down
• Wait/Stay
• Come when called
• Leave it

We’ll also tackle some of those less-than-desirable habits, including jumping up, inappropriate chewing, stealing, and more.

But this class is about more than teaching commands. You’ll learn how dogs learn, how to communicate more effectively with your dog, and how to make your training time more productive.

The goal? Building a cooperative, trusting relationship with your dog that will last a lifetime.
