Do you all remember Rosie?

Rosie was one of the first few horses we took in at Steel City Animal Haven. That was like 6 years ago. We have fostered her out several times, and she’s back with us again!

We foster her out instead of adopt her out because she’s an old swayback broodmare that has cancer. The cancer hasn’t bothered her, but she is in her late 20’s at this point. Horses like Rosie can easily wind up in terrible situations, so we keep her as a foster horse only.

This time she brought a friend back with her. Jasper is a mustang that was previously trained to ride but will need a refresher. He also has some bug allergies.

Jasper and Rosie will need their vet work updated, teeth floated, farrier work, and a refresher before they are available for adoption/foster.

Consider a donation to help these two get the vetting they need. Also keep an eye out if you are interested in adopting/fostering ❤️

Doc is back up for adoption or foster!

He’s a 22 year old gelding, broke, pretty chill but does have some little quirks. No health issues. 14.2 hands tall.

Doc does have a pretty grumpy face and isn’t photogenic, so getting a decent photo of him is difficult 😅

His adoption fee is $600 with an approved adoption contract. He’s UTD on shots, and has had his teeth floated.

He did cut up his leg a few weeks ago. He still has a scab, but he’s in the clear and has healed up great!

I’m honestly surprised he’s still here, so we are open to fostering him out to someone that would give him more one-on-one attention.

We messed around with Doc a little today since his leg is healing up so nicely! We decided not to ride him just yet since it’s not quite 100%, but he’s definitely headed in the right direction.

If you’re looking for an older, broke horse or even just a great companion, Doc could be a wonderful choice! He’s 22 years old and in good health, with no known issues besides a scraped-up back leg that is healing quickly. He’s a nice older guy with plenty to offer the right home!

This cooler weather has been so good for Baby, she’s improving more and more every day! ❤️

She still has quite a bit of weight to gain, but we know that takes time. We worked on some halter-breaking today, and we can definitely tell she’s feeling much better because she’s back to her spicy self!

You can hear the rain coming down in the video. Our arena and outside pasture has pretty much become Baby’s home for now, which means she’s getting plenty of extra attention and one-on-one time.

Thank you all for your support and thoughts for Baby!

Jasper is a 5 year old Mustang gelding. He’s halter broke, and can be saddled. The owners are wanting 2000 for him, or 2300 with his saddle.

If interested, message us and we can get you in touch!

If you’ve been here in the last year, you’ve probably met Pinto Bean.

Pinto Bean is our 10th Mustang from the BLM. He’s also been our most squirrelly ones. One side of his brain wants to be a pocket pony, the other side of his brain says, “RUN!”

He’s been one of my favorite mustangs.

Anyhow, he’ll be available for adoption one day when he’s ready, but he’s getting closer.

He wore a saddle for the first time today, and I was expecting lots of jumping, BUT HE DID SO WELL! No spooks!

This is his first time wearing a saddle and he was pretty chill about the whole process!

Pinto Bean is going to make someone a great little pony!

Do you remember this pony?

His name was Snickers, the people that adopted him renamed him Tiny. He’s super friendly.

He’s UTD on shots and teeth float as of December 2026.

They are looking to rehome him for 1,700. He comes with his saddle and halter.

Let me know if you are interested and I can forward you their info!
