Are you in the helping spirit during this heatwave?

If so, Baby, our horse with heaves, would really like a solar fan. We made a pen for her in our arena, but we don’t have electricity yet.

Even 5 or 10 dollars toward this solar fan is helpful!

UPDATE ON BABY

This is a picture of Baby from about a month ago. I don’t want to share a recent one because she looks so bad. She started wheezing about a month ago. My vet said it was most likely heaves. We started feeding her small square bales, instead of round bales. I started soaking her hay. I would hose her down when it got hot. None of it seemed to make a difference.

She started losing weight rapidly, her face was swollen, she was drooling, and she was just struggling. The vet gave her a large steroid shot with some daily meds. We are hoping that will help along with all the other things we are doing. I feel so bad for her, and she’s not the easiest horse to handle as she really hasn’t had too much training. I have her barely halter broke at the moment.

Keep her in your thoughts as we work through this hot weather which is difficult with horses with heaves.

Took Phantom to the lameness vet today. Prognosis is still up in the air. They are going to collaborate with another vet and get back with us.

I’m getting ready for the next vet appointment.

We have a horse named Baby that has been struggling. She’s still a bit wild, so getting a vet out has been difficult. I got her good enough to take her in. She has a swollen mouth, drooling, and has been breathing hard. I’m hoping it’s nothing serious, but we will see.

Today is an expensive day. Probably over 150 dollars just in gas 😭

We picked up this beautiful pony tonight!

Meet Phantom! Phantom is trained, but had a pretty bad injury a few years ago and the vet believed her riding career may be over. We will take her to our lameness vet and get updated X-rays etc, and see what his thoughts are.

Phantom isn’t currently showing lameness, but that doesn’t mean she’s necessarily sound enough to become a riding horse.

I’m not gonna lie, if all works out, Phantom might become my daughter’s pony 👀
