This weekend we are participating in the Princeton Petsmart’s (111 Nassau Park Blvd) aptly named event “Adopt Joy”… we will have tons of amazing & sweet cats and a bunch of adorable & mischievous kittens! All of our adoptables are spay/neutered; have age appropriate vaccines; tested for FIV/FELV; microchipped and come with tagged collars; dewormed; 30 day emergency pet insurance through Trupanion oh and full of LOVE! Giveaways and raffle going on Saturday & Sunday! Volunteers there both days 12-5pm! Come adopt some JOY!

Because it is Monday we wanted to share a feel good story! Otto is a beautiful FELV+ boy that was being cared for by another rescue…sadly as most FELV+ cats go, he was living in a crate on his own. This loving, gentle, sweet soul desperately needed out and a home. A few weeks back another rescue partner made me aware of him and asked if we could try to help find him a home…we are so overwhelmed at the moment but I put him on my list of cats to focus on when a moment freed up. As it happens in the universe ANOTHER rescue partner reached out to me randomly about a week later asking if I knew of any friendly FELV+ cats that needed a home (she was aware we often have FELV+ in our organization as we will never turn them away if at all possible to help)…that said we were able to connect the team with Otto with the person looking to add an FELV+ cat to their home and sweet Otto was officially adopted and transferred to his new home in Long Island this weekend! A few points to note here…when rescues work together vs against each other amazing things can be accomplished and also that FELV+ cats are as deserving as any other animal of a loving and amazing home. They in no way should be instantly killed over a viral infection especially if they are overall healthy and thriving…let’s work to remove the stigma these poor cats fight against daily. We have placed countless FELV+ cats over the last few years into loving wonderful homes…some sadly didn’t have that long to enjoy and some are doing just fine….so there is no way to tell but they all deserve a chance. So for today let’s celebrate Otto not being another statistic and getting the life & family he needed! Long, happy life beautiful boy and to his adopters, thank you for being open to these special cats!

Our Kitten Pop-up Shop is still in full swing at the Princeton Petsmart, 111 Nassau Park Blvd. Volunteers there today from 12-5pm! Lots of adorable kittens and many sweet adults too!

Update: this post has garnered a ton of responses which is excellent because the more people understand and see what’s happening out there than the more likely they’ll be change. To answer a few questions…he was chipped. We don’t know who the owner was as microchip companies will not disclose that…but the owner told them Curtis was left behind when she moved and a neighbor was going to feed…so there is no recourse…this was an irresponsible terrible person who left an innocent basically to fend for himself…it’s literally the same story everywhere day after day….that all said…a wonderful update here is that thanks to this post Curtis has left the building with the most wonderful people! Happy life Curtis and his new mom and dad!

The cruelty of people can be just heartbreaking like what the hell is so broken in someone that they would abuse an innocent animal??? Our newest resident at Petsmart is a victim of such a monster. Curtis was found on one the coldest nights on the side of the road this past winter. Initially the finder thought he was dead but fortunately realized he wasn’t. A local rescuer in the area where he was found immediately stepped in and got him to ER…the thought was he had been hit by a car. Sadly the truth was much more sinister…sweet, gentle Curtis (abandoned by his owner as confirmed via his microchip) had been shot up with a bee bee gun and multiple pellets were lodged in his body…his pelvis was also broken and he was left to suffer and die. Thanks to quick acting and caring people this beautiful and incredibly trusting boy not only survived but is thriving! He is now ready for the most loving, caring, special and wonderful home… we think he deserves that at the very least. Curtis is at the Princeton Petsmart being especially cute & charming! Volunteers are there Saturday for our big kitten adoption event 12-5pm…Curtis can’t wait to meet you!

Gus & Bing are wondering who is gonna break them out of jail…they are decidedly NOT GUILTY just look at those faces!!! These adorable brothers have been waiting at the Princeton Petsmart for two solid weeks and individually have had lots of interest but we’d really love to keep them together…they play hard and snuggle up together when they finally crash! Visit them during store hours or at our Kitten Pop-up Shop Saturday 12-5pm featuring many adorable and adoptable kittens and amazing adult cats!
