Sweet little Miss Daisy 😍

She's one smart cookie! Her obedience so far is near flawless. She's picked up on e-collar training real quick and will most likely be off leash trained here real soon! She adores people, dogs and even cats though she's learning how to say hi to cats in a more appropriate manner lol.
Her vices: she's a bit clingy... And would love to be wherever her person is and since part husky well, that can get loud. So we're doing A LOT of place work, a lot of back tying, and crate training has helped as well. Literally everything else she's perfect for. She's with us for another solid 2 weeks of training but they have opened up applications for adopting this sweet girl if you're interested! She would be an amazing addition to anyone's family! Every. Dang. Time. 🤦🏼‍♀️
Do y'all know how hard this has been to achieve? HARD. 😅
And now I get to ask them to continue the hard work while I bring out the last dog to work, most likely destroying this hard work but also having the opportunity to continue coaching.
You can't achieve calm by only giving the dog calm spaces to stay in. Each one of these dogs got exercised and worked before being asked to remain calm. One by one. Until this last one is about to come out and ruin it all over again lol.
But let me say that again.... YOU CAN'T ACHIEVE UTTER CALM IF YOU KEEP YOUR DOG IN A BUBBLE. I've said it many times before and I'll keep saying it again, you can't give your dog a stress free life. It's not possible unless you keep them contained in a bubble but that's not really living is it?
We have to teach our dogs how to remain calm NO MATTER what stressors come our way.
So here we go... Again... And again... And again... And again.... Until it doesn't matter what I do, they'll stay there regardless. Looking forward to that light at the end of the tunnel lol

Week 2 for these board and train dogs has us utterly exhausted 😅
We always go into our time off on a high because we have accomplished so much with the dogs that have come through, worked so hard, and sent them home as amazing dogs. But then the next round of dogs come through and we're so excited to get to work with them and then remember the reason they are here.... Because they need a lot of work...😅 The first few weeks are always rough for us as we navigate the new dogs, think outside the box, and press forward with the hard training because we know it gets better by the end... But that doesn't mean it's not challenging. There's a reason dogs to come to us for these programs. Because they're challenging. They need way more consistent training than a regular person with a regular job can handle. When I tell people that we go through hell with these dogs and come out the other end with them, I mean we ALL go through hell TOGETHER and emerge on the other side stronger together.
This week has been a challenge and a half. But we're starting to see the other side. We're still exhausted lol but I can see the silver lining... Even if it's still a ways off.

All those circles aren't for nothing. But certainly looks hilarious when mapped out! 😆

I always feel like we've walked farther than we actually do... And somehow that's just wrong for me lol. But hey, working on pack drive isn't about walking at your normal pace to get all those steps in and reach goals. It's about a slow, relaxed pace to get the dog's head space into a more calm state of mind.
Wyatt is working HARD to battle his anxiety which makes these trips so hard for him. But he's doing it! Today was simple: pack drive, pack drive, a little creek water break, and more pack drive. Plus decompression and massage to help further get him there.

Oh little Roo Roo ❤️ Roo Bean ❤️ Roobarb ❤️ Little S**t ❤️ Spicy Nugget. She goes by all of these names 😆

If you don't remember Roo from when we first got her, go back through the years and check it out! She's a completely different dog from when she started with us and my first ever foster fail. ❤️ Now she's a little demanding with her pets but I remember how terrified she was in the beginning and I'm fully intending on getting her tiny little paws prints tattooed on my leg some day. ❤️

These white dogs... Always trying to get grass stains! 😅😆 It's like sports teams pushing for white shorts/pants when we all know it's a terrible idea....
Daisy I guess is just trying to work on her camouflage paint 🤣

Looking ahead to our upcoming time off, yes we just had time off from training so it won't be for awhile, but I realize a lot of people tend to rely on us to take their dogs for training when they go away on trips. So be sure to plan your trips NOT during our time off.
The reason I'm bringing it up NOW is that the most impactful time off coming up will be over Christmas and New Year's when a lot of other people tend to go visit family. We will NOT BE TAKING DOGS over Christmas and New Year's this year and instead actually taking that special time for our own families. ❤️

The specific dates we are not working for the rest of this year include:
October 25-November 1 (we are already booking dogs for board and train programs starting November 2!)
December 23- January 3

I'm sorry if this is inconvenient for my clients but I urge you to solidify your Christmas plans with other kennels NOW before they fill up, which they will be for those dates soon....

Stay on top of travel plans that include housing for your dog sooner rather than later before it becomes a huge stressor!

Oh puppies....😆
One of the hardest things people struggle with to teach their dog is the act of doing NOTHING. Their dog is always on the go, always wound up, always stressed out, maybe they'll sleep if everyone is doing nothing at the same time but heaven forbid someone gets up and moves and it's all destroyed. We spend A LOT of time with these dogs to burn off the crazy energy in healthy outlets, take the time to get them into a good state of mind, work them through tough scenarios, and then teach them how to shut it off and relax. It's HARD. And it takes a lot of time. Both Wyatt and BB have been working for HOURS to get to this point. Given it's their first week here and it's all new which is why it takes so much time, but eventually it'll all become second nature to them.
Don't have the time to dedicate hours on end to get your dog to this point? Most people don't! That's why we offer our board and train programs. So we can do the heavy lifting and you can just maintain it when they go home. ❤️

BB and Wyatt are both dog reactive and have a really hard time shutting their brains down and resting. That's what working on the Let's Go with pack drive is for but also decompression. Decompression is where we settle down and REST after our long walks in circles lol. Where we coach them into learning how to work through the chaos of their brain and settle down. Learn to let it go when the other dog gets to, let it go when someone comes into the shop, let it go when we need to get up to coach someone else. These two are going to be SO TIRED from all the resting we've been teaching them 😉😆
