September is Pet Pain Awareness Month

A question that we are often asked is “how can I tell if my pet is in pain if they can not tell me?” Pets can be very stoic in how they communicate that they are in pain, so at times they may not show any signs.

The most common responses to look for are depression, aggression, limping, resistance to petting or grooming, not eating, panting excessively, and much more. If you have concerns that your pet could be in pain, reach out to us at 425-742-4444 or [email protected]

Summer cookouts are fun for the whole family, but be aware of a hidden danger on your table: the corncob. 🌽While corn itself is safe, the cob can cause serious problems for pets. Not only is it a choking hazard, but it cannot be broken down in the stomach and often leads to intestinal blockages that require emergency surgery.

If your dog has ingested a corn cob, DO NOT WAIT and see if they will pass it. DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. Call an ER right away. This situation requires immediate action.

If you suspect your pet ate something they shouldn't, call our office to speak with a team member who can help determine if your pet needs to be seen by a veterinarian: 425-742-4444, opt 4

🐾🔥 Today is National Pet Fire Safety Day! 🔥🐾

Our pets are family, and keeping them safe includes having a fire safety plan.

Here are a few simple ways to protect your furry friends:
🏠 Keep pets away from open flames, candles, and hot stovetops.
🦴 Use flame-free LED candles whenever possible.
🔥 Place pet alert window decals on your home so first responders know pets are inside.
🐶 Keep collars and leashes near exits for a quick evacuation.
📋 Include your pets in your family's emergency evacuation plan.

If you ever need to evacuate, never leave your pets behind if it's safe to bring them with you.

How does your family include your pets in your emergency plan? Tell us in the comments! ⬇️
