Update on Èomer!

Since there really isn’t anything the vet can do about the seizures, the main goal is just to try and avoid them happening.

So, since the pressure to get him gentled isn’t as high, I am just going to take it slow and primarily do Liberty work with him to build his confidence!
I am now able to get some touches/pets on his face and neck!
And he is getting more curious and relaxed!
He hasn’t had a seizure in several weeks now, so I am really hoping that continues!

He may be the biggest horse here by far, but there’s no horse I trust more with my little siblings🤩
So when my three youngest siblings asked if they could get him and sit on/ride him by themselves, I said yes!
And he did absolutely amazing for them!

One of the best ways I have found to teach a mustang to be confident and relaxed is to just let them experience lots of new things, and explore domestic life!
The more new situations they can be in where nothing bad/scary happens, the more confident that they will be the next time they are exposed to something new!

And because this is something that has been harder for Mercedes, I am going above and beyond to really help her to be able to relax and be chill!

I really foresee her being a super athletic and “competitive” horse in whatever discipline she ends up doing!

I am NOT a gaited horse person, I know pretty much nothing about gaited horses and really don’t like them enough to want to learn, but slowly Rowan and I are somehow improving her gaits!!

It’s DEFINITELY a work in progress (and only until she finds her new home-she is available!) but she has gone from being one of the most uncomfortable horses to ride, to actually having a really smooth gait-even if it’s only for a little while at a time so far!!

And I really have no idea if we are doing it right, but I do know she is much softer, more relaxed, and actually trying to figure out what I am asking for!
