✨ Sunday Spotlight ✨
Our second Sunday Spotlight is Millie! ❤️

Millie has been a part of the Double M lesson program longer than we have owned the barn. She was actually my first lease horse and has been a part of my family for almost 12 years. Millie was a lesson horse under the previous owners for many years, too. She’s a barn favorite — and definitely one of mine as well! 🥰

Facts about Millie:

🐴 Age: 27 years old
🐴 Breed: Grade — either Quarter Horse or solid Paint
🐴 Color: Chestnut/Sorrel
🐴 Favorite classes at shows: Barrels or Poles
🐴 Weird quirks: Millie actually “talks” (she smacks her lips, typically in a very sassy way 😂) and “fishes” (she throws a line out into the aisle and drags hay back into her stall).

Millie has been such a special part of my life and our barn for so many years. ❤️ We’re very lucky to have this amazing mare in the barn!

✨Sunday Spotlight ✨

Our first Sunday spotlight had to be our girl, Jazz.

Jazz is a 15 year old registered American Quarter Horse (AQHA) and is a red roan. Jazz does all levels of lessons at Double M, including little 3 year olds. Jazz has been owned by the Brandt family for 9 years and has done many shows with Emma and Logan over the years. She has been shown in local horse shows, 4H, and AQHA shows. She has earned many Grand Champion Halter titles as well. Jazz loves to show, and her favorite class at horse shows is poles (she’s slow though lol), but her best class is showmanship!

✨ Fun fact Friday ✨

✨✨ There are 23 recognized colors with the Quarter horse breed. ✨✨

While there are many different breeds of horses one of the most common breeds is the American Quarter Horse. The breed association recognizes 23 different colors. These colors are either black or red based and then have different variations within those colors.
So your red roan horse (Jazz) is a red horse with a roan gene/white hair mixed in.

Black based colors include - black, bay, brown, buckskin, smokey black, grullo, dun, blue roan, bay roan, brown roan, perlino, smokey cream, classic ch*****ne, and amber ch*****ne

Red based - sorrel, chestnut, palomino, cremello, red roan, red dun, gold ch*****ne
