The Vanderburgh Humane Society (VHS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded in 1957. We receive no tax-based funding whatsoever and we are not affiliated in any way with the Humane Society of the United States. Therefore, we depend solely on the generosity of the corporate community and the public at large to continue, and hopefully expand, the much-needed services we offer. Located in E

vansville, Indiana, we serve more than 11,000 pets and their families each year through a variety of programs. We are a founding member of EPAW, the Evansville Partnership for Animal Welfare, launched in 2013.

With news reports of extreme heat & floods even here in our region, it's an important time to make sure you have everything together in case you must quickly leave your home. Hopefully your pet is already vaccinated & microchipped. But on top of that, make sure you have copies and photos of those records and microchip numbers for each pet in multiple places. Both hard copies and phone photos are helpful. This will help you be able to secure temporary housing or a hotel more quickly in an emergency. If you don't have those records -- call your vet ASAP and get them! 🩺

Last night we attended the West Side Nut Club Founders Day Banquet with dozens of other nonprofits, schools, and first responder organizations! 🌰

The Nut Club has given out over $700,000 in donations from last year’s Fall Festival Half-Pot. 💰 We received $6,000 toward our new HVAC controls project, replacing thermostats & actuators throughout our building to keep it a comfortable temperature for the animals. ❄️🔥

Thank you West Side Nut Club. You do so much for our community. 🤎💛 Be sure to get your half-pot tickets at this year’s Festival, October 5th-10th!
