🐾 Meet Our Newest Campers at The Training Retreat! 🐾

We have some pretty special faces joining us for board and train, puppy camp, and structured boarding! ❤️🐶

🐕 Honey Bee & Dolly — These sisters are full of energy, incredibly sweet, and ready to learn! They’ll be working on basic obedience, manners in the home, jumping, leash pulling, establishing boundaries, and learning how to settle and find their calm after playtime. Our goal is to help them channel all that enthusiasm into becoming more confident, well-mannered companions!
🐾 Winifred (Winnie) — Winnie is a sweetheart who loves affection and playtime! She’ll be working on basic manners and obedience, leash skills, polite greetings, and recall so she can enjoy more freedom while still responding reliably to her people.
🐶 Bowie — This adorable pup is joining us for Puppy Camp, where we focus on building a strong foundation for the dog he’ll become. We’ll be working on potty manners, chewing and nipping, leave it/drop it, threshold manners, basic obedience, and introducing the leash in a positive, structured way. Bowie also has a special need for support with separation anxiety after being found abandoned in his crate on the side of the road. We’ll be working to help him develop confidence, security, and the skills he needs to feel safe as he grows. ❤️
🐕 Buster — Welcome back! Buster has already completed a three-week training camp with us and is returning for structured boarding and continued education while his family is out of town. We love offering this option to our camp graduates because training doesn't have to stop when camp ends! Consistency matters, and we're happy to help our graduates maintain and build on everything they've learned.

✨ So, what makes The Training Retreat different?
We believe there is no such thing as a cookie-cutter approach to dog training.
Every dog who walks through our doors brings a different personality, history, set of challenges, and way of learning. We don't simply apply the same formula to every dog. We work with the dog in front of us, adjusting our approach to meet their individual needs while keeping their family's goals in mind.

And just as importantly, we don't believe training is only about teaching a dog commands.
It's about building a relationship. ❤️
The trust we build with each dog is just as important as the obedience skills we teach. We want our dogs to feel safe, understand what's expected of them, and learn how to navigate the world with confidence.

We also work with the humans on the other end of the leash! Our job is to coach owners, provide practical tools, and help them understand their dogs so they can become confident, consistent leaders at home. Because lasting progress happens when both ends of the leash are supported.

Our goal isn't simply to send home a dog who listens to us. It's to help families build a stronger relationship with their dogs, create clarity and consistency, and enjoy life together with greater confidence.

Stanley's Confidence Day Out 🐾

Stanley came to us needing help with the basics, building confidence, and working through some nervousness and reactivity around both people and other dogs.

Today was a big step.

We took a trip to Stockwell Inn and hung out on the new patio, giving him the chance to experience a brand-new environment, new people, different sights, sounds, and smells—all while staying calm and engaged with his handler.

This is where real-life training happens. It's one thing to listen in a quiet training room. It's another to make good choices when the world gets busy around you.

Stanley did an awesome job today. Every successful outing like this helps build his confidence and teaches him that new places don't have to be scary.

We're proud of this guy and can't wait to see what he accomplishes next! 💙🐶

Training doesn't stop at pickup day!

At The Training Retreat, we take pride in building a solid foundation. During camp, we teach reliable obedience, create good habits, and help dogs understand what's expected of them in everyday life.

But the real success of our program comes after your dog goes home.

The owners who see the best long-term results are the ones who stay consistent. They reinforce what their dog has learned, keep the expectations clear, and continue the work we've started together.

Our job is to build the foundation. Your job is to maintain it.

That's how training lasts for years—not just the first few weeks after camp. 🐾

Look at this face! 🥹❤️

Remi has only been home a few days, and we got one of those messages that absolutely makes our day.

"He has the 'Place' command mastered. And the 'Off' command as well. Feeding went well at breakfast. No growling or aggression shown, and he was able to eat all his food with no issues."

Now, here's what makes this so exciting...

Remi came to us with a history of resource guarding. That means things like food, toys, and other "valuable" items could make him feel the need to protect them. Dogs like Remi don't need someone to "win" against them—they need clear leadership, structure, and consistency so they can relax and make better choices.

The best part? His family didn't just take him home...they took home a plan. ❤️ They committed to following it, and they're already seeing the benefits.

Training isn't about creating a perfect dog overnight. It's about helping dogs and their people understand each other better and giving them the tools to be successful together.

Way to go, Remi! 🎉 And a huge shoutout to your family for putting in the work. We couldn't be happier for all of you! 🐾❤️

💕 This is one of my favorite parts of training camp.💕

Pickup day isn't just about sending a dog home—it's about bringing the whole family together.

Libby spent the last couple of weeks learning new skills, building confidence, and understanding what we expect from her. Today was her family's turn to learn.

The pickup lesson is one of the most important parts of our program because dogs learn best when everyone is communicating the same way. We take the time to teach owners everything their dog has learned so they can go home confident, consistent, and ready to keep building on that foundation.

Just look at her... belly up, tongue out, completely relaxed while her people love on her. 🥹❤️

That's trust. That's confidence. And that's what happens when everyone is on the same page.

Watching dogs reconnect with their families like this never gets old. Welcome home, Libby. We know you're going to make your family proud. 🐾
