Can you believe this before and after?!

Merida came to us as a stray. She was skinny, stinky, covered in mange, but that twinkle in her eye and her slobbery kisses upon intake told us she was more than ready for a new life!

She’s a young, active, FUN, loving girly. At just about a year old, she is learning how to be an indoor dog and is absolutely thriving. She’s learning her leash manners, to chew toys instead of your sleeves like a puppy, and she’s smart as heck!

She’d be awesome in a home that is ready for a young dog that loves to go on adventures, maybe even agility (👀?!).

Help us wish her luck during our adoption hours this weekend from 1-4 pm! 💕

We will be closed for adoptions tomorrow, Saturday October 17!!! Why, you ask? Well, we’ll be at our annual Tails About Town Gala raising money for Evanston’s shelter animals 💜

We will reopen for adoptions on Sunday from 1pm to 4pm, so be sure to stop by then if you are thinking about adding a furry member to your family!

Q: Why is that dog named Gnucci?
A: Why not?

Every so often someone lets us know our animals’ names are a little… unconventional. Fair. We also have zero regrets. Naming is one of the purely joyful parts of a job with plenty of hard days… take it up with Chief Feline Officer!

Buuuuuut, if you’ve got a better name in mind, we have a simple process:
1️⃣ Meet the animal
2️⃣ Submit an adoption application
3️⃣ Call them whatever you want for the rest of their very spoiled life!!!

All of our animals are waiting for someone to call them their best friend. Could be you. 😉🐾

Honestly, we’re tired.

We get it, we’re here to help. The community, the animals, families, friends, volunteers.

But we’re tired.

We’re pretty much at capacity all the time. One animal leaves, four more come. It’s a tough time for everybody but we have so many animals that need homes ASAP so that we can help those coming in whether we have the space or not.

If you’ve ever considered fostering or adopting, come by this weekend from 1-4 PM and let’s see if we can find you the perfect fit! 💕

Idk y'all, do you think Zainab loves tennis balls?

Z came to us as a stray so we don't know much about her history other than she's literally just a girl trying her best!

She's got a case of the kennel crazies which we sometimes see in young energetic dogs and can display in different ways. Zainab likes to get zoomies and pretend the leash or your sleeve is a tug toy. Here's the thing though, and as her attorney, she is INNOCENT of all charges!

Ok maybe not but all she really wants to do is LEARN. She thrives with basic structure and getting her yayas out through games like fetch and learning basic obedience.
Will she be work? Yes.
Is she willing to put in the work? YES. Anything for a treat and a belly rub
Would she thrive in a home? ABSOLUTELY YES.

Zainab does not deserve to grow up here. Can you be her hero? She's good with dogs, would be great with older kids who can play with her, and we give her 5 stars, 10/10, would recommend!

Big Head Todd is adoptable. And handsome. And sure, sometimes poops on lamp posts, demands head massages, and has an oddly shaped body but that’s why we love him!
