🐾 PUPPY EDUCATION: Mini Aussie Eyes! 👀 🐾

One of the most beautiful and unique features of Mini Australian Shepherds is their eyes! 😍 And if you have a young puppy, those pretty little eyes may still have some changing to do!

💙 Blue eyes are common in Mini Aussies, especially in merle puppies. They may have two blue eyes, one blue and one brown eye, or even multiple colors within the same eye!

🤎 Brown eyes can range from light amber or golden shades to a deep, rich brown.

💙🤎 Two different colored eyes are called heterochromia. This is a normal trait seen in Australian Shepherds and does not mean there is anything wrong with the puppy’s vision.

✨ Parti or marbled eyes contain more than one color in the same eye. You might see blue with a section of brown or brown with little areas of blue. These can be absolutely gorgeous!

🐶 When do puppy eyes stop changing?
Puppies are born with their eyes closed and usually begin opening them around 10–14 days old. Their early eye color isn’t necessarily their permanent color! Pigment continues developing as they grow, so we usually need to give those baby eyes some time before making a confident guess about their final color.

🧬 Eye color is influenced by genetics and pigmentation, which is why Aussies can have such an incredible variety of eye colors—even puppies from the same litter can look completely different!

One of my favorite parts of watching a litter grow is seeing those little eyes open and wondering what beautiful colors they’ll end up with. 🥹🐾
