Let’s hear it for the men behind the women (or women behind men, men behind men, women behind women, or whatever your partnership is ❤️) that go unseen. The ones that are the go-fers, drivers, cheerleaders, horse holders, videographers, photographers, keeper of records, tack toters, drink fetchers, snack getters, the people who put on our rubber bands, rub our sore bodies to get us through that last day, help treat our busted shins and knees, and more. Ya know, ones that ride home in silence with us when we are disappointed, dust off our suckers when we throw them in the dirt, talk us off the ledges, and are the first to celebrate with us over every little win.

Zack Witvoet is always at the gate to help with cinches, boots, scoop my ego outta the dirt, congratulation me, and most importantly clean or not…give Rebel her post race cookies. Thanks to Indian Creek Racing Productions for capturing the photo and sharing.

Another race weekend is in the books and not only am I thrilled with Rebel and Hardy, but also we had an incredible time with great friends. Getting to see your friends accomplish things they’ve been fighting for all year is one of the best feelings ever and when you toss in the bonus of getting to play with the coolest kid ever…cloud nine!

Rebel gave me our greatest weekend so far! We moved up a division and got outta the 5D at a super show with the saltiest horses this area has to offer! Brought home a check and made some consistent nice runs. I’m so proud of her. She’s out here at just 5 years old and I’m in my first year running but we landed in the middle of the pack at the race where the invitational for the best of the best rolls into the open. I have a ton to smooth out and learn still and Rebel has more gears to give. If you’d have told me where we’d be now after I Hail Mary jump rode her without ever having ran a pattern not even once last year at this same race when circumstance left me without a jockey…I’d have probably laughed, cried, and barfed all at once. 😂

We have an announcement…

Straight from the Pink Buckle Sale in Guthrie, OK, Welcome to Pegasus Equine Roxie!!!

Missmerized by Manny is a 2026 AQHA filly by PC Redwood Manny out of a KVN Corona Mare. She was bred and consigned by Ngsdarkhorse and we are honored at the privilege of being able to continue on the excellent foundation they have put on Roxie!

WhooooHoooo! We annihilated our previous PR at 4 Rocks today with a run that was smooth like butter!!! We landed outta the money in the 3D open, but man I am loving new PRs! So proud of Rebel today and I’ll never not love her wicked turns.

My goal for this year, my very first year running EVER after 30+ year in the English world, was to get her back to her times in the 2D/3D zone she ran with the trainer. That goal seemed nearly impossible at the beginning of the year when Peewee kids were smoking us and we were dead last in the open and the adult, but, sometimes all it takes is a little support from the right people and pocket fulls audacity and delusion of your own to make impossible things reality. Thank you to the amazing people that cheer for me and dust my sucker off when I’ve thrown it in the dirt. A special thank you to my groom, chore man, tack lifter, driver, water boy, masseuse, biggest cheerleader, camera man, pony holder, trailer tire changer, snack getter, etc…Zack Witvoet, my hubby.

Point being, if there’s something you want to do that you’ve been told you can’t, it’s hard, it’s scary, it’s not “normal”, or you’re worried about what people will say….get out there and do it anyways. There’s no awards for being palatable, average, and safe, but there’s so so so much to gain chasing what sets your soul on fire. 🔥

What should you know about mules???

When your mule eats all his hay an hour before feeding time he’s going to come to the gate and cry the most pitiful cry you’ve ever heard. Then, he’s going to walk back to the hay feeder and see it is still empty and walk back to the gate to cry some more. This will continue until you fill his hay feeder despite the fact he is surrounded by edible grass pasture to browse any time he’d like. He will log this atrocity as mule abuse in his mind that he was out of hay for an hour and you didn’t make a special trip in the rain to refill it an hour before you were going to anyways.

Check out and support Coleman on Ranch America! It has been a privilege and honor to not only purchase Kitty from him but also to have had him put her foundation on! We have loved every bit of watching his career grow and can’t wait for what the future holds for such a bright young rising star!

Despite staring down 7 days of nothing but rain, today is good day because Hardy’s close contact pad has arrived from Phoenix Equine!

Phoenix Equine is my favorite choice for pads because PE has a variety of cuts and colors for just about anyone! I personally have fallen head over heels in love with the close contact pad and they are the only pads I race with. Rebel rocks her gold(mustard yellow) and Hardy is bringing in the blue(and I’m digging the croc detail on the wear leather)! These have the open wither for freedom of movement and the cut out for increased leg contact and less bulk. These are HUGE for me as a rider that values quick responses to subtle ques on my horses and I want them to have a full range of unrestricted motion. Feel free to stop me at a race and I’ll happily let you check out the pads for yourself.

Secondly, but not the least by far was Hardy’s very successful adventure in hauling. Hardy and I have been putting in some major work here at home building her confidence and improving our communication. If you know Hardy, you know she was USED TO BE a defensive, reactive, and salty young lady. Now she is gaining confidence step by step every day and even had the focus to carry herself and smoothly flex and yield around while expos were going.

She is an absolute joy to ride and so talented. I’m really looking forward to her career more and more everyday.
