Zaarif is making excellent progress in his training. This Arabian stallion came to us to be started under saddle, and he has been a pleasure to work with from the beginning. He is a willing, intelligent, and genuinely kind horse who continues to learn and gain confidence with each ride.

Very proud of how far he has come and excited to see what the future holds for this talented young stallion.

Every horse I have the opportunity to work with teaches me something new. They may all be horses, but each carries their own personality, experiences, challenges, and strengths.

Some come with baggage, some are a clean slate. Some have known people their whole lives, while others have spent years untouched. Learning to read each horse and adapt the training to meet their individual needs is a lesson in itself.

I think of every horse as a new book added to the library I’m creating. Each client trusts me enough to let me borrow their book, and my hope is that when they leave, I’ve helped write a better chapter in their story.

I’m incredibly grateful for every horse, every lesson, and every chapter. 🐴❤️

Andy is a 3-year-old Warmblood gelding who came to us to learn all the life skills and begin his journey under saddle.

He is such a sweet boy who tries very hard and is always willing to learn. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to work with him and be a part of his education.

The cinch usually gets them the first time. 😂

When training horses (or any animal), one of the biggest keys is learning to read what they’re trying to tell you—and having the timing to respond appropriately.

This video is Sparrow’s first time being saddled. He’s comfortable with the saddle pad, but when I introduce the saddle, you can see his worry increase. Instead of pushing through it, I take a step back to show him that I hear him, understand his concern, and that he can trust me.

The second time, he’s still unsure, but he starts to realize he’s going to be okay.

It’s all about finding that balance between asking for more and knowing when to give them a moment. If we always push, we can create a horse that shuts down or explodes. If we never ask anything of them, we don’t build confidence

Teaching for the Unexpected

One of my lesson students, Michela, had a moment when her Thoroughbred decided he wanted to take off. Thankfully, she has learned how to disengage his forward motion, and regain control of his feet. ❤️

This is exactly why I believe riding lessons should be about so much more than perfect diagonals, leads, and a pretty seat.

Those things matter, but so does learning to read your horse, think through a situation, and know what to do when things don’t go as planned. Horses may spook, bolt, buck, rear, or simply have a day when they aren’t quite themselves.

So often, riders only experience seasoned lesson horses who make everything feel easy. But at the end of the day, horses are animals—and just like life, things don’t always go according to plan.

My goal is to prepare my students not only to ride when everything is going right, but to stay calm, think, and be prepared when it doesn’t.

Because sometimes the most important lessons aren’t learned when everything goes perfectly. They’re learned in the moments when things go wrong—and you discover that you’re more capable than you thought. 🐴❤️

Priscilla is three weeks old and already doing so well with her halter training. I’m incredibly proud of this little girl!

I’ve worked with numerous foals over the years, but zebras definitely have their own way of doing things. If I had to describe them, I’d say they’re like a donkey with the personality and agility of a calico cat.

Priscilla is incredibly intelligent, and I’m so stoked for the opportunity to invest in her, build a strong foundation, and learn alongside her along the way. 🦓❤️
