Aragon Alpacas Aragon Alpacas in southeast Eugene, OR. Farm visits Tues-Sat by appointment. Aragon Alpacas is home to a small herd of alpacas raised for their exquisite fleece.

We breed, birth and board alpacas as well as mentor new owners in their care. Located just 15 minutes from downtown Eugene, OR, we welcome visitors Tuesday-Saturday -- please call or email for availability. Generally, Open Farm Day is held a few times during the year, and various groups schedule their visits: school classes, car clubs, reunions, assisted living facilities, family visitors, etc.

Congratulations to Dr. Lilian Wong, who was honored with a Beacon of Hope Mental Health Champion Award from OSU's Counseling and Psychological Services.

Dr. Wong is a clinical skills instructor at the college.

"These awards honor individuals and groups whose primary roles are not centered in mental health, yet who intentionally weave care, awareness, and advocacy into their everyday work, helping to create a more welcoming, supportive, and connected campus environment.

A new addition inside WHC's Spinsters Studio has come full circle.

This rug was crafted in the 1950s by Thomas Kayโ€™s widow using wool fabric produced right here at the Thomas Kay Woolen Mill. Decades later, it has found its way back home to the mill where that wool was first made.

In female alpacas, ovulation does not occur at a set point during a cycle as it does in many other species.

Instead, the physical act of mating triggers a cascade of hormonal changes that lead to ovulation.

During mating, an ovulation inducing factor (รŸ-NGF) that is present in the semen is absorbed through the wall of the uterus and this causes the female to release hormones that signal the ovaries to release an egg.

This process ensures that ovulation occurs at the most favourable time for fertilisation.
Because ovulation occurs shortly after mating, the timing between s***m and egg is highly synchronised. This increases the likelihood of successful pregnancy.

Nature has designed an efficient system to ensure reproduction occurs when conditions are right.
