Fun Fact ... The white platform in the first picture was the reason Major created the Original Indoor Mountain Trail Championships!

20+ years ago, Major and a few other spectators where in the grandstands of OHC watching a horse show. One pattern had the horses walk over the white platform which was between 2 small potted trees.

Major was amazed how the horses reacted to such a simple task that apparently seemed very intimidating to the horses. This gave him the idea to create a show where horses would be exposed to what they would see in nature, just brought indoors.

What a success this idea has been, prompting several others to create courses of their own.

Fun Fact ... The rubber pond liner and canvas cover is one of the few items that is used on our Mt Trail course that isn't created by Mother Nature herself!

Our goal is to keep the course as natural as possible!

⭐️🦄 NMTC 2026 Fun Class Highlight 3: Bridleless Class! 🦄⭐️
After each day of our National Mountain Trail Championships show, we will be hosting fun classes that anyone can enter in. Join us on the third day, November 6th, for our Bridleless class!
In our Bridleless class, riders will ride on the Silverado course using the day's Explorer pattern bridleless, with neck ropes allowed and saddles optional. This class will be scored and judged like a normal Mountain Trail Class!

Fun Fact.... in addition to all the required large equipment to build our Mt Trail course, there is much smaller surveying equipment needed to ensure accurate measurements and depths of obstacles like our ponds!

Fun Fact .... it takes around 50 dump truck loads of dirt to create the hills for the Silverado arena's main bridge!

We're just about 2 weeks out from our National Mountain Trail Greenies show!! Who's excited? We definitely are!
We're especially excited to see some spooky, scary riders and horses in our Costume Class, taking place as the last class of the day Saturday, October 31st 👻 🎃
