🐾 They Can’t Tell Us Where It Hurts… But They Can Show Us.

As we wrap up Animal Pain Awareness Month, it’s a good reminder that pets often hide pain much better than we realize.

Some signs can be subtle:
🐶 Slowing down or hesitating on stairs
🐱 Hiding or becoming less social
🐾 Limping or stiffness—especially after resting
😴 Sleeping more or not wanting to play
🍽️ Changes in appetite
😟 Panting, restlessness, or difficulty getting comfortable
✋ Becoming sensitive or irritable when touched
🦴 Trouble jumping onto furniture or getting into the car

“He’s just getting old” isn’t always the whole story. Arthritis, dental disease, injuries, and other painful conditions can sometimes look like normal aging.

If your pet just doesn’t seem quite like themselves, give us a call. A little change you notice at home can tell us a lot. ❤️

🐾 August 26 is International Dog Day! 🐾

Big dogs. Little dogs. Fluffy dogs. Scruffy dogs.
The perfectly behaved ones… and the ones who have absolutely no regrets. 😂

Today we celebrate the dogs who make us laugh, keep us company, steal our spots on the couch, and somehow become such a huge part of our families. ❤️

Give your pup an extra belly rub, a special treat, or a little more time doing their favorite thing today.

And because we can never see too many dogs… drop a picture of your pup in the comments! 🐶📸

Happy International Dog Day from all of us at Gardner Animal Hospital! 🐾

🐾 Did you know August is Itchy Pet Awareness Month?!🐾

Is your pet scratching, licking, chewing, or shaking their head more than usual? Constant itching isn’t just annoying—it can make your pet downright miserable. 😩🐶🐱

The good news? You don’t have to settle for “they’re just an itchy dog.”

At Gardner Animal Hospital, we have multiple treatment options to help get your pet’s itching under control. Depending on the cause, we can help with allergies, skin infections, fleas and other common reasons pets just can’t stop scratching.

✨ Less scratching. More belly rubs. Happier pets.

If your pet is keeping you awake with the scratch-scratch-scratch, give us a call and let’s find an option that works for them! ❤️

🐾 Today is Spoil Your Dog Day! 🐾

As if they needed another excuse. 😂

Today’s agenda:
🎾 A new toy they’ll destroy immediately
🚗 A ride with absolutely no destination
❤️ An unreasonable amount of belly rubs
🛏️ And yes… they can have your spot on the couch.

They give us their whole lives, so we think they’ve earned a day of being ridiculously spoiled. 🥰

Tell us — what’s the silliest way you spoil your dog? 👇🐶

🐾 Water Safety Isn’t Just for People! 🌊☀️

Many pets love the water, but swimming isn’t risk-free. Whether you’re headed to the lake, river, or pool this summer, keep these safety tips in mind:

💙 Never assume your pet can swim well—some breeds tire quickly.
🦺 A properly fitted life jacket is a great idea for boating or deep water.
💧 Bring fresh drinking water so they aren’t tempted to drink from lakes or pools.
☀️ Take frequent breaks in the shade to prevent overheating.
👀 Always supervise pets around the water, even strong swimmers.
🚿 Rinse your pet after swimming to remove chlorine, bacteria, or algae.

A little preparation goes a long way toward keeping your furry family members safe all summer long!

☀️🐶 Heat Wave Alert: Protect Your Pets! 🐶☀️

The summer heat can become dangerous for our four-legged family members much faster than many people realize.

Here are a few simple ways to keep your dog safe:
💧 Provide fresh, cool water at all times.
🌳 Limit outdoor activity to early morning or late evening.
🐾 Test the pavement with the back of your hand—if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for their paws.
🚗 Never leave your pet in a parked vehicle, even for a minute.
🥵 Watch for signs of heatstroke, including excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or collapse.

If you think your pet may be overheating, move them to a cool area, offer cool (not ice-cold) water, and contact your veterinarian immediately.

Stay safe, stay cool, and give your furry friends a little extra TLC during this heat wave! ❤️
