🍃🐾 September is National Preparedness Month—the perfect reminder that hurricane season isn't over yet! Here in Southwest Florida, now is a great time to make sure your emergency plans include every member of the family... especially the four-legged ones.

🐶 Don't forget your pets!
Before the next storm, make sure you have:
✔️ At least a week's supply of food, water, and any medications.
✔️ Copies of vaccination records and rabies certificates stored in a waterproof bag.
✔️ Updated ID tags and microchip information.
✔️ A sturdy carrier or crate with your contact information attached.
✔️ A plan for pet-friendly shelters, hotels, or boarding facilities if you need to evacuate.

📌 We've also created a handy printable fridge reminder to help you keep these important preparations close at hand. Feel free to print it and keep it somewhere everyone in the family can see it!

💨 September 17 is Pet Carbon Monoxide Safety Day, so we'd also like to remind everyone about a danger that's easy to overlook after a storm.

If you're using a portable generator:
⚠️ Never operate it inside your home, garage, lanai, or any enclosed space.
⚠️ Keep it at least 20 feet away from your home, doors, windows, and vents.
⚠️ Install battery-powered carbon monoxide detectors and test them regularly.

Remember, carbon monoxide is colorless, odorless, and deadly—for both people and pets. Pets are often affected first, so if your dog or cat suddenly becomes weak, sleepy, unsteady, or collapses while a generator is running nearby, get everyone into fresh air immediately and call 911 (or your nearest emergency veterinary hospital for your pet).

💙 A little preparation today can make a world of difference tomorrow. Stay safe, stay prepared, and here's hoping the rest of hurricane season is a quiet one! 🌴🐾

Starting in September, we're launching our Pet of the Month Contest—and yes, there will be prizes! 🏆

Want your furry superstar to enter? It's easy! Just ask one of our technicians or receptionists to snap your pet's photo during your visit.

At the end of each month, we'll post all of our handsome hounds, fabulous felines, and other adorable contestants on our page for voting. The pet with the most votes will earn bragging rights as Pet of the Month, along with a fun prize! We'll announce the winner the following week.

🐾 FOUND KITTEN — LOVING HOME OR OWNER NEEDED 🐾
This sweet little girl, estimated to be 4–5 months old, was found outside crying and extremely hungry. She was wearing a very tight leather collar, so it is clear that she has previously been someone’s pet.

She is an absolute sweetheart! ❤️ She is very socialized and clearly comfortable around people. She knows what doors are, wants to come inside, happily climbs into your lap, and loves to cuddle. She is playful, affectionate, and simply adorable.

We have made every effort to locate her family. We have contacted rescue groups, posted on Facebook, put up flyers throughout the neighborhood, and spread the word in hopes that someone is looking for her. So far, no owner has come forward.

She is not yet spayed.

Unfortunately, the finder is unable to keep another cat. She is currently being safely cared for on a secure lanai with a large enclosed play area, but we desperately need help finding her a permanent home—or, ideally, reconnecting her with her family.
