Well here I go.....
It was brought to my attention the rumor mill is at it yet again in the rabbit community. We have been struggling with a group of breeders & I use that term lightly a.k.a (mean girls) in the rabbit community. Let me make it clear struggling in a way that not to put our energy into deconstructing all the lies, harassment & misinformation that is constant with these mean girls. They even went so far as to make up a list of the names of the contaminated rabbits & emplicated only one breeder of these rabbits as the guilty sole responsible person for this issue. Now the mean girls are attacking yet another breeder for a separate issue that stems in their own rabbitry & placing the blame elsewhere.
Im thinking a list should be made up of these mean girls as contaminated breeders I use that term lightly yet again so that when doing rabbit business or when new people are coming into the rabbit community they should know the names of people who are contaminated.
Kinda like the Better Business Rabbit Bureau. BBRB......
Can you believe in this wonderful age of modern advances with medical, technology & most of all COMMUNICATION that the rabbit community is so broken & down right just mean hearted. We are talking about mostly fluffy gentle little stress relievers.
I say come out of the darkness you crazy little contaminated breeders (use that lightly) & start with being responsible positive well intention members of the world in which you live. Stop all this unnecessary chaos cause karma is coming your way & you know who you are and a list is really not needed after all.
Bless you all....

The amount of times I heard these stories now...appalling.

Breeders being pressured to cull entire lines. Breeders being told to sell rabbits they love as pets because of who is in their pedigree. Breeders being afraid to speak up because they've been told they could be blackballed if they p**s off the wrong breeders.
I'm done being quiet about it.
That is not protecting new breeders.
That is not educating people.
That is not responsibly addressing concerns within a breed.
That is gatekeeping. That is intimidation. And yes, that is bullying.
You can share information. You can discuss concerns. You can encourage breeders to pay attention, make responsible decisions, and learn everything they can about their rabbits and their lines.
But you do not get to demand that someone destroy their entire breeding program because you don't approve of who they bought rabbits from.
You do not get to scare people into compliance by threatening their reputation or telling them they will be blackballed.
And you absolutely do not get to harass people and then pretend you're doing it for the good of the breed.
To the new breeders: Don't let fear make your decisions for you. Ask questions. Listen to different perspectives. Look at the information yourself. Learn your rabbits, your pedigrees, and your lines. You are allowed to make informed decisions about your own rabbitry.
To the breeders who have been quietly sitting on the sidelines because you've been afraid to speak: I see you. You shouldn't have to be scared of losing friends, being attacked, or being blackballed simply because you don't agree with someone else's demands. You deserve to have a voice too.
And to those who have already been pressured into culling rabbits or giving up lines they loved because they were afraid of what would happen if they didn't... I'm sorry. You deserved better.
I am going to keep talking about this. Because breeders should be able to make informed decisions based on facts, not fear. And people who have worked hard for their rabbits should not have to feel isolated, ashamed, or scared into giving up their rabbitry just because they ended up on the wrong side of the wrong people.

Enough is enough.

History of the American Teddywidder
Written by Neva Stroud of Phantom of the Hopera
✨️Storytime!!✨️

The American Teddywidder began in 2016 with a shared vision among breeders who were independently but similarly working toward the idea of a rabbit with a dwarf body, lopped wooly ears, and a soft, manageable coat.

Among those early breeders was Theresa O’Day of WBT, who was also involved through her group Teddywidder Rabbits of America. Her work was part of that early wave of breeders exploring what this type of rabbit could become.

At the same time, I was doing my own research, as I tend to do with any project, because knowledge is power. I spent time studying genetics, talking with experienced breeders, and narrowing down what traits would actually be needed to move the vision forward in a responsible way.

During that process, many of us came across a photograph of a sheepdog like rabbit, the European Teddywidder. It wasn’t exactly what we had in mind, but it was close enough to make it clear that the idea was possible.

Through additional networking, I also discovered another breeder, Renee of Lamb and Hound, who was developing her own version of a fluffy lop rabbit she called “Lambkins.” This was a personal project and not intended as a formal breed development program. Unfortunately, records were not consistently maintained, and it eventually became impossible to reliably verify what was behind many of those rabbits. Because of that lack of documentation, Lambkins were removed from the American Teddywidder development program. While it is possible that a Lambkin may appear somewhere far back in a few older Vienna lines, they were not a foundational part of the organized development effort.

From there, development moved forward using documented foundation stock from the English Angora, Lionhead, and American Fuzzy Lop. Over generations, breeders selected carefully for a consistent type: a dwarf body, wooly lopped ears, and a full wool coat.

The focus has always been on more than appearance alone… health, structure, and an easy care coat that supports the rabbit’s well being have been just as important as type.

In February of 2018, my passion for the American Teddywidder rabbit deepened as the vision for the breed continued to develop. During this time, I began writing the first Standard of Perfection for the American Teddywidder, which was later published in September of 2021. The Standard is now consistently updated through the North American Teddywidder Rabbit Club to reflect the breed’s ongoing development, refinements, and improvements as the program progresses.

Today, the American Teddywidder continues to be refined through selective breeding, with the long term goal of establishing a stable, recognizable breed worthy of eventual presentation to the American Rabbit Breeders Association ARBA for recognition.

Check it out:
HFB Raven
he is 7 months old 100% American Teddywidder non-vienna..
I have been watching/studying his growth & he has pleasantly met all my expectations.
Nice solid bone/body
Nice head wide with good ear set/lenght & good dense wool coverage on them. Nice hips.. body/limb wool is dense & has molted evenly (fantastic) & grow back healthy & thick (summer clip not so even). Head mount is carried high (no pancake here). Personality is very confident & friendly loves his people. This was a good keeper choice
Plus:
His father is a Solid Chocolate breeding Raven is going to be planned carefully to encourage Chocolate offspring.

This is HFB Sophie
When she was born she looked blue, then shortly after she looked dusty black as she continued to grow she looked blackish with white underneath but holding her black coloring at her points. Now she is grown up still continues to change but at a snails pace. The color determination of Siamese Sable was correct when she was just a wee baby.. Here is a small pictorial of her changing up to now...
