I’d be lying if I said this one didn’t feel a little different than the other ribbons hanging on my walls.
For those of you who haven’t had the privilege of meeting this dog, let me fill you in on the details.
Molly is truly a special animal. My wife will tell you she’s God’s greatest gift. She’s the dog who gets to sleep in the bed, ride sh***un, eat table scraps, and basically live the life of luxury… 😅 Yet somehow, when it’s time to hunt or step to the line at a test, she doesn’t miss a beat.
Molly is also a prime example of pretty much everything I stress to my clients NOT to do with their dog. 😂 And yet, somehow, she continues to impress me every single day.
This dog has laid up for 90% of the summer (right alongside my wife and daughter 😅) and then rolled out of bed with me yesterday morning and absolutely smoked a Finished test to earn her HRCH.
What makes this one so special to me isn’t just the title. It’s knowing the history behind this dog and knowing just how much life she has shared with our family. She has been there through the early mornings, long training days, hunting seasons, growth, and everything in between. Leaving the line yesterday afternoon was a surreal feeling, and getting to see her perform at such a level honestly made me stop to take it all in.
I couldn’t be prouder of her performance, and I couldn’t be happier to add this one to the wall.
A HUGE thank you to Eastern Carolina HRC for putting on a great test, and to all of the volunteers who gave their time to make it happen. It takes a great group of people to make these days possible, and it’s greatly appreciated.
Here’s to the next chapter for ole Molly dog. 🍻
