Four years ago, Lenny got a second chance at life. And somehow, four years later, I get to be part of his story.
Lenny is a paralyzed pit bull, but if you met him, you’d see so much more than his disability or his breed. You’d see a dog who is sweet, goofy, affectionate, trusting, and so incredibly full of love. 🥹
10 things I want you to know about pit bulls:
1. They can be incredibly loving and affectionate.
2. Many are absolute cuddle bugs who just want to be close to their people.
3. They can be some of the goofiest dogs you’ll ever meet.
4. They’re playful, silly, and full of personality.
5. They’re intelligent and capable of learning so much with patience and positive training.
6. They can form incredibly deep bonds with their humans.
7. They deserve to be judged as individuals, not by stereotypes.
8. With proper care, socialization, and training, they can make wonderful family companions.
9. Some are just as happy spending the day snuggled up on the couch as they are playing.
10. And perhaps most importantly: there is so much more to a pit bull than what they look like.
Lenny is a beautiful reminder of that.
I am SO grateful to Lenny’s mom for trusting me to care for him while she’s away. Being chosen to look after someone’s babies while they’re away is something I never take lightly, but getting to care for a dog with such a special story makes it mean even more... especially because of my love for pitties 🥹
I’ve already fallen completely in love with this sweet boy, and I cannot wait until I get to stay with him. 💛
Four years after his rescue, Lenny is still here. Still loved. Still making people smile. Still showing everyone that his life is so much bigger than the things that happened to him. A very constant reminder that it’s possible to heal and find happiness and love, despite being dealt a sh*tty hand by life. No matter how “damaged” we may be, we are all deserving of love and kindness.
