A tired pet isn’t always a fulfilled pet. 🧠🐾

Running, chasing, and playing are important—but our pets need something to do with their brains, too!

Puzzle toys, treat toys, snuffle toys, and other interactive options can turn playtime into a chance to sniff, search, solve, and explore.

And sometimes, a little mental workout is exactly what they need to stay busy when you can’t play with them. 🐶🐱

Not sure what kind of toy your pet would enjoy?

Stop into Horstman’s and tell us a little about them. We’ll help you find something that matches the way your pet likes to play. 💚

What’s your pet’s favorite kind of toy: something to chase, chew, sniff, or solve? 👇

Late-summer heat, rain, and humidity can be tough on your bird-feeding setup.

A quick reset can help keep it fresh and ready for every cardinal, chickadee, nuthatch, and goldfinch that stops by. 🐦

Empty old seed, scrub the feeder, let it dry, clean the ground below, and check for damage before refilling.

A little care now can make your backyard a more welcoming place as we head into fall birding season around Lake Erie.

Need fresh seed or a new feeder?

Stop by Horstman & Sons and let us help you find the right products for the birds you love to watch.

Your pet uses their bowl every single day—but not every bowl works for every pet. 🐾

Stainless steel, ceramic, plastic, and lick mats each offer different benefits depending on your pet’s size, eating habits, and daily routine.

The best choice is one that fits the way your pet eats—and that you can keep clean and free from damage.

Swipe through for a quick look at the pros and cons of each option, then stop by Horstman & Sons to explore our selection.

Every dog approaches summer a little differently. ☀️🐾

Some are ready to chase the sprinkler the second it turns on. Others would prefer to enjoy the season from a shady spot—or directly beneath the air-conditioning vent.

Summer adventures can all increase your dog’s hydration needs. Whether it’s a walk around the neighborhood, a trip to the dog park, a day at the beach, or even an exciting car ride it’s important to have easy access water available for your furry friends.

One of the biggest misconceptions we hear is that you’ll know when your dog is thirsty. In reality, by the time they’re showing obvious signs, they’re already trying to catch up.

A few simple habits can make a big difference:
🐾 Bring water on every outing.
🐾 Offer frequent drink breaks.
🐾 Watch for heavy panting or slowing down.
🐾 Keep a travel bowl handy wherever summer takes you.

A hydrated dog is a happier, healthier adventure buddy. ❤️

👇 What’s your dog’s favorite way to cool off in the summer?

Swimming? Splashing in a kiddie pool? Ice cubes? Napping in the shade? Tell us below!

A tired dog is often a happier dog. 🐾💚

Giving your dog a safe place to run, sniff, and explore does more than burn energy—it supports their physical and mental well-being.
Regular exercise can help:

🐶 Maintain a healthy weight
🦴 Keep joints and muscles strong
🧠 Reduce boredom and destructive behaviors
❤️ Lower stress and improve overall happiness

Summer is the perfect time to get outside—just remember to choose the cooler parts of the day, bring plenty of fresh water, and let your pup take breaks when they need them.

Summer memories don’t have to come with a boarding pass. ☀️🐾

To your dog, the best days are often the simplest ones:

🐶 An extra walk after dinner.
🌳 A new trail to explore.
💦 Chasing the sprinkler in the backyard.
🦴 A favorite chew from the local pet store.
❤️ A little more time with you.

Because to them, you’re the destination.

What’s one simple thing your dog loves doing in the summer? We’d love to hear below. ⬇️
