Sophia (13 yrs old) has a business mind and a care givers heart!!!!! She started a bracelet business and used her most recent earrings to purchase items for the shelter animals we serve! A girl after our director Ruth's heart sharing a love for business and a passion for animals - THANKS, Sophia! Can't wait to see what you'll come up with next!

John had recently moved to Erie from Philadelphia and stopped by the shelter to possibly adopt a dog. He asked Desire about meeting Falcon. Falcon had been at the shelter for 51 days without ONE person wanting to meet him to adopt. He was shy and timid and didn't really care about making any new friends besides the staff who cared from him every day after he was found abandoned in the City of Erie almost 2 months ago. Des explained to John an initial visit outside in the picture garden might be best so Falcon didn't feel overwhelmed inside a little meet and greet room. John understood and when Falcon was brought out his head was lowered and and his tail tucked, John was kneeling with this hand stretched out for Falcon to sniff. Falcon walked slowly towards John, and just like that, pushed his head under John's arm and pressed into his legs. He relaxed and let his guard down...he had met his person. In conversation, John mentioned he had served in the U.S. Army so Des asked if he could be considered for a sponsored adoption by our favorite State Representative Ryan Bizzarro through his Ryan's Rescue Veteran's Program and of course Ryan said YES!!!!! Thank you to John for adopting and serving our country and Ryan for making the adoption happen at no cost to John!

A HUGE THANK YOU to our friends at Ricardos for making us the beneficiary of one of their summer Rib Cook Outs! They stopped by to present us with a check! Matt and Beth and their family have adopted numerous animals from us and have been supporters for a long time! Delicious food served up by animal lovers??? YES PLEASE!!!!!
