We have a heatwave starting today! Let's discuss how to help keep your dog safe during the next three days.

1. Walk your dog early in the morning before it is too hot and oppressive, or super late in the evening, when hopefully it has cooled down.

2. Keep outdoor time to a minimum during the day, basically just to go to the bathroom and some sniff time, then back in.

3. Have a cool space in the home. Our kennel room is in the basement (as I have always grown up with), so even if the A/C in the house goes out, the dogs will always remain cool in the summer. So think about the cooling in your home. If you don't have a basement and/or A/C, make a cool corner in your home. Fans, darkness and and cool, etc. Plenty of access to cool water.

4. Certain breeds have more difficulty in the heat such as bracchiocephalic breeds (Pugs, Pekignese, English Bulldogs etc) and dogs with elongated palettes, trachea issues etc. Pay extra attention to them in the heat.

If you feel that your dog has already surpassed prevention please call your vet and local emergency vet ASAP.

But prevention is key. Murphy and Lulu give a paws up for keeping dogs safe in the heat!

WE ARE STARTING A WEEKLY GAME!

EVERY Friday we will be posting pictures of a dog who has had DNA testing done.

Message us with a pic of your dog, and a picture of their DNA results. The pictures will be posted on Friday, and guesses will go until Weds when we post the results and the winner.

If someone guesses 100% then both the owner of the dog and the guesser get either a free evaluation, or if you are already a client, a $75 certificate that you can put towards more training or boarding.

Hey all! We love doing in-home training. When the dog is comfortable in their surroundings, it is easier for everyone involved, especially the dog, to get a true look at what the problems are that we can help with.

But we must ask that you confirm your training with everyone in your home. Today there was a second incident where we were chased out of the home.

We are here to help. We WANT to help. We want everyone to have the experience of owning a well trained dog. But we will not do so to the detriment of our safety.

So please, alert everyone in your home prior to a visit so that this doesn't happen to us again. There are three of us, Alyssa (me), Davis (my hubs), and our apprentice Chris. Davis and myself have both experienced threats of violence while at an evaluation and that is unacceptable.

We want to train your dogs to keep them safe and happy, and keep you safe and happy. We need you, (as clients) to make sure that your trainers are SAFE and happy as well.

We always love taking our training dogs out and about. But today we took a former training dog, Lupin, to get pictures with Krampus. He was super social with everyone, and just hot because he was inside.
He came to us with aggression issues due to a bad trainer who his owners sought help from first. I am so glad that they found us, because now that he has been trained by us he can stay with us, and he is basically one of the family. He and our daughter are obsessed with each other. His family has a new baby and we know that he will be nothing but a great big brother!

Happy Sunday everyone! I apologize that we can not always do call backs on the weekend, or during the week outside of our regular call schedule.
Our office call times are M-F btw 9a-5p. We will get back to you within 24hrs. There are only the two of us working phones and office hours (Davis and Alyssa), and we need family time with our 8 y/o daughter who helps with the training, but also deserves a childhood outside of her parents' job.

We will always try to call you back asap. We apologize if it is not always within your time frame, but we will do our best to accommodate.

We just need to try and keep a good work/life balance the best we can, thanks for understanding.

It's that time of year again!
The leaves are down, the holidays are coming up fast, and your dog is ready to jump on guests, steal that turkey off of the table, or chew on the kids' new presents. Or maybe you are going out of town for the holidays and you want your dog to have a more immersive boarding experience by adding training in a home environment.
