If you only have one Davikas lab it’s definitely a great experience to have a play date with a second Davikas lab. These two definitely can tell are related and from our breeding program. Best buds.

Got A Laugh. The crazy running dog is Briar now named Koda. She plays like she is a puppy sometimes but she is seven and retired, has 2 horses and another Davikas lab.

Rest Easy Bruce (Raven x Victor)

I didn’t mean to leave so soon.
I know you weren’t ready.

But I want you to know something:
I didn’t go far.
A good dog never does.

I spent my whole life watching over you—
the kids growing taller,
the house filling with noise and love,
the quiet moments when you thought I was just sleeping
but I was listening,
making sure everything felt safe.

That was my job.
My purpose.
My joy.

And now?
I’m still doing it.
Just from a higher spot.

I’ve traded my collar for wings,
but I’m still your Bruce—
your Davikas boy,
your shadow in the hallway,
your soft-eyed guardian.

I still check on you.
I still follow the kids.
I still curl up near the warmth of your memories.
And yes…
I still sneak Cheez‑Its.
(They definitely have those up here.)

When you feel a little nudge of comfort,
a sudden warmth,
a memory that arrives right when you need it—
that’s me.
Letting you know I’m close.
Letting you know I’m proud.
Letting you know you gave me the best life a dog could ever ask for.

I’ll keep watch,
just like always.

Windham County VT is only a stones throw from NH and we all know how people and dogs move around so much. This disease is the worst so follow precautions. The care to pull a dog through this is extremely hard and expensive and some dogs don’t make it. Puppies and older dogs are at the highest risk. Honestly your Amazon driver could spread it to your premise on his tire or shoes or you could get it on your shoes or tires when out and about. It last on surfaces through all New England weather. For a long time it was rare to hear of this happening in New England but it’s probably a worry now here to stay unfortunately.

When Janis passed not too long ago her retirement family was hoping for another like her. We just left Buddie in their good care. It will be big paws to fill. Buddie is a very sweet girl and is Janis grand daughter since her sire was Janis’s son Bobbie. She is not as young as when Janis went to live there but she is young looking and acting and I hope she keeps that vigor a good few years ahead to enjoy this much deserved stage of her life. To be completely honest…I wish this family could take me in too lol! ❤️❤️❤️

We try to fit these great foods in our human diet, but I can tell you besides the Avocado and dark chocolate that are not good for dogs, all the other foods are things I also try to give my dogs and especially my senior ones. It might not be their total diet but food toppers to their kibble. Sometines it’s just leftovers from our own dinner that they get.
1-Fresh caught Salmon and sardines,
2-avocado, (not for dogs)
3- pastured eggs,
4- bone broth,
5-cruciferous vegetables
6- berries,
7-dark chocolate 85% or higher (not for dogs)
8-fermented vegetable kimchi, sauerkraut etc.
9-Olive oil,
10-mushrooms

This was Mother’s Day 2011. We were also on our way after to breed Freedom to Diane Pilbin’s boy Gus. This litter had produced Janis and many other well loved siblings in others homes. We still have a large presence of this breeding. My husband went trout fishing with Diane’s husband and they both caught their limit and sent us home to bake a trout treat. This weekend there are 2 celebrations. Saturday is Dog Mom Day and Sunday Mother’s Day. I can honestly say I have loved to be both. Enjoy your weekend moms!

Meanwhile in Colorado! lol! I told Pearl things could be worse here in New Hampshire. Though to be honest I never met a lab who didn’t like the snow!
