Tuukka was a chocolate gentleman from Autumn & Hugo, born on November 20, 2013, carrying all the softness and steadiness that make Davikas Labs unforgettable. From puppyhood through his final years, he moved through life with a calm heart, a gentle spirit, and a loyalty that never wavered.

His story was one of love shared across homes.
For his first years, he grew alongside Jabo, his black Lab companion from Nala & Hogan, forming a bond that shaped both their lives. When circumstances changed and he and Jabo were welcomed into the home of Dianne and Peter, Tuukka stepped gracefully into a new chapter. Their care, devotion, and constant updates ensured that Tuukka’s first family never lost sight of his joy, his health, or his adventures.

Tuukka lived a full twelve years, crossing the rainbow bridge on September 12, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of gentleness, companionship, and quiet strength — and a brother, Jabo, who will turn 13 on October 26, 2026, still carrying the rhythm of their shared life.

He was a dog who brought comfort simply by being present.
A dog who loved deeply and was deeply loved.
A dog whose life touched multiple hearts and homes, leaving each one better than he found it.

Tuukka’s journey was marked by kindness — both given and received — and his memory will continue to rest warmly with everyone who had the privilege of loving him.

Some dogs arrive in the world carrying a kind of quiet magic, a softness that settles into every life they touch. Ryder was one of those rare souls.

Born thirteen years ago, he grew into the kind of Labrador who embodied everything Davikas stands for…steady, gentle, joyful, and deeply connected to his people. And from the very beginning, he knew exactly who his heart belonged to.

To his family, he wasn’t just a dog.
He was the love of their lives.

Ryder lived his days wrapped in the warmth of the people he adored. Whether he was swimming in the pool, bounding through fresh snow, or simply leaning his body against the legs of someone he loved, he radiated happiness. He didn’t ask for much…just to be close, to be included, to be loved. And in return, he gave a kind of unconditional devotion that changed their world forever.

For 13 beautiful years, he filled their home with laughter, comfort, and the kind of companionship that can’t be replaced. He made ordinary days feel special. He made hard days feel lighter. He made their family whole.

Saying goodbye to him is one of the hardest things they will ever face. Their hearts are broken, but overflowing with gratitude…for every moment, every memory, every wagging tail, every soft-eyed glance that said, “I’m yours.”

Ryder was family.
He was a best friend.
He was a piece of their hearts they will carry for the rest of their lives.

Now he runs free…pain gone, spirit light, joy restored. And though their world feels different without him, his love remains, woven into every corner of their home and every memory he left behind.

The perfect trifecta of lab colors today. The fox red front and center is a year old and her name is Merida. We just bred her parents again for a hopeful repeat of gorgeous dark shaded yellows. The black girl is the same age from our retired girl Buddy (living in the home that had Janis) and her name is Girlie. The chocolate is much older named Delilah. She is the dam of our girl Spirit. She is 8 years old. I would consider a retirement for her if someone was interested.

I love our kennel since they can go in and out at their will. They have a porch like roof so even raining days like today they can get some fresh air if they want. They have a long area not under cover and on sunny days any season they will often be out napping peacefully in the sun. ☀️

Ozzy will be 2 in the spring of 2027 and after we will do his clearances. He should work out as our stud dog for all the girls here since he in unrelated to all our dogs and his DNA panel is clear of all the tested lab. He won’t be able to make yellow colored pups since he is pure for chocolate.

Lymphoma tried to dim your glow,
but even in the hardest moments
you stayed the best girl,
brave, loyal, endlessly kind.
You gave everything you had,
right up to the very end.

Letting you go was more than they could bear,
yet they did it out of love,
the same love you gave them
every day of your beautiful life.

Now your spirit runs ahead on a gentler path,

Sharing this. I would highly recommend a visit to Sacred Tree Herbals in Meredith NH if you need assistance with something similar. I apprenticed under her for a 6 month intensive course and learned so much. Not every situation needs surgical removal. Also so many of us dealing with tick related diseases with our dogs nowadays could benefit from her protocols. She had Lyme too so she knows how the benefits of herbs can feel first hand.

In Loving Memory of Davikas Raven Returned the Sun

Some dogs carry light inside them
a quiet glow, warm as sunrise, steady as truth.
Raven was one of those rare souls.

From the moment she entered the world, she carried beauty, balance, and the unmistakable Davikas steadiness. She grew into a black Labrador whose presence felt like calm water and soft laughter, a dog who seemed to understand life more deeply than most humans ever will. My husband called her his girlfriend, a joke that became a truth, because Raven had a way of choosing her people with her whole heart.

After her litters, when she went to her second retirement home, she simply expanded her circle of love. And they loved her with a devotion that matched our own. They wrote of her:

“Raven was, by far, the best dog ever.
Like Buddha wrapped in a Labrador’s body,
she radiated kindness, the purest love, sweetness,
a subtle sense of humor, and a quiet, confident charm.”

She became their True North,
a compass on hard days,
a wagging tail on the good ones,
a presence so constant that her absence now feels like a missing piece of the world.

Raven lived over 13 years with grace. Aside from that early fever scare in the winter before Covid, she was healthy, joyful, and full of gentle mischief. In the end, it was her back legs—worn by arthritis—that told her family it was time. She asked for release, and they honored her with mercy, love, and the same tenderness she had given them every day of her life.

Her legacy does not end here.
It runs forward…
in the dogs who carry her structure, her sweetness, her soundness,
in the future litters whose eyes will hold her calm wisdom,
in the families who will unknowingly welcome a piece of Raven into their homes.

She returned the sun to every life she touched.
And now, though she has slipped from our arms,
her light remains…
in memory, in lineage, in love.

Run free, Raven.
Your sun still rises in all of us.

I have never heard of Anco Root Chews but someone on another page recommended them. That got me to research tree root chews. Can I grow the tree that makes Anco root here in NH? No. But similar could be made from maple, black birch and beech. It’s a certain process and need to dry them especially carefully but might give it a try. Has anyone here used Anco Root Chews for their labs?
