Alan W. Woodbury, 81, of Dickinson, North Dakota, passed away leaving behind a remarkable legacy in the horse industry.
A lifelong horseman, Alan combined his education in Animal Science and Agricultural Economics with a passion for raising and feeding elite equine athletes. Through Woody’s Feed, he developed specialized horse feeds that supported champions across the country, including horses competing at the highest levels of racing.
Alan was equally proud of the Quarter Horses he raised, including champions such as Roses Cantina, Tell Em Belle, Jag, and the legendary Banker. Banker earned national recognition as the National Finals Rodeo Steer Wrestling Horse of the Year, a testament to Alan’s eye for exceptional equine talent.
Even after retiring in 2023, Alan remained devoted to breeding and raising horses, spending countless hours at his Dickinson farm mentoring others and enjoying the animals he loved. His impact on the horse industry and the people within it will be remembered for generations.
Alan is survived by his children, Rick Woodbury, Bobbi Maher, Jill Healy, and Angie Barlow, along with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
