At Phoenix Assistance Dogs, we believe that freedom is strongest when everyone has the opportunity to participate.

Our 2026 Independence Collection celebrates the people, volunteers, puppy raisers, owner trainers, direct care workers, partners, and supporters who make independence possible every day. For many individuals with disabilities, independence isn’t a once-a-year holiday. It’s the ability to leave the house, attend school, go to work, access their community, and live life on their own terms.

This design was created by our own volunteer staff member, Sarah of Montgomery Canvas Creations, who has designed most PAD apparel. The artwork features two PAD dogs that are partners of Veterans. Beauty, a mini Poodle and the late PAD Bravo Zulu. It combines classic Americana with the heart of our mission: assistance dogs helping people achieve greater freedom, confidence, and connection.

Whether you’re attending a parade, watching fireworks, training a future assistance dog, or simply enjoying time with family and friends, this collection is a reminder that independence belongs to all of us.

At Phoenix Assistance Dogs of Central PA, our puppy program is built around one thing: raising stable, environmentally sound dogs through early science-based development.

Pelican is available as a pet, while his littermates continue through our assistance dog training pathways.

✨ What makes him special?
His parents were carefully selected for:
✔️ Health
✔️ Temperament
✔️ Trainability
✔️ Genetic soundness

Both parents hold full health clearances including hips, elbows, eyes, thyroid, heart, and genetics.

🧠 Puppies begin learning almost immediately after birth through:
• Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS)
• Early Scent Introduction (ESI)
• Daily positive exposures
• Novel texture and sound work
• Early confidence building
• Human bonding exercises
• Crate and potty training foundations

They are raised in a real home environment with intentional socialization and structured enrichment to support healthy neurological development during critical developmental windows.

ADOPTED

Fifa is a 5 month old, male, Golden Retriever that is available to adopt as a pet. He loves taking walks, playing with her other dogs, and splashing in the creek.

He is being placed as a pet because he doesn’t thrive under unpredictable pressure which causes him to freeze while he processes, which service dogs can’t do.

He has a solid foundation of training including sit, down, wait, leave it, stay, up, off, heel and she walks nicely on a leash and is crate trained. He has been raised around children, cats and dogs.

He is up to date on his vaccinations, and his adoption contract will include that his adopter will neuter him by 2 years old. He was raised in our service dog puppy program which focuses on raising sound and stable puppies. We strive for each puppy to be well-socialized and desensitized, in addition to basic foundation training and proper dog communication manners and behaviors. Puppies are introduced to novel stimuli daily, to include: various new people, items, sounds, and textures. We also utilize the use of a clicker during early training.

He will come with a Go Home Bag full of chews, treats, toys, a collar, leash, and a Zoom private lesson valued at $150. There is a $2,500 adoption fee for Fifa.

A HUGE Thank You to Ed, Quintin & The Fish Place!

It takes a village to keep dozens of assistance dogs and puppies fed, and today we're feeling incredibly grateful.

A massive thank you to **Ed and Quintin** for spending their time unloading, hauling, organizing, and sorting a mountain of donated dog food at PAD. If you've ever moved a single 40-pound bag of dog food, you know this was no small task. By the end of the day, our shelves were stocked, organized, and ready to support the dogs and puppies who depend on us.

📸 As you can see, they tackled the job with smiles (and maybe just a little sweat).

We also want to extend our sincere gratitude to That Fish Place-That Pet Place for their generous donation of dog food. Donations like these directly reduce our operating costs and help ensure that more resources can go toward training future assistance dogs rather than filling food bowls.

As a volunteer-run organization with **zero paid staff**, support like this truly makes a difference. Every bag donated and every hour volunteered helps us continue our mission of assisting individuals with disabilities in finding and training assistance dogs that increase independence.
