After many years of hosting agility trials, I have made the very difficult and emotional decision that the May trial will be the final agility trial for Rocky Creek.
This has not been an easy decision. Hosting trials has been a huge part of my life, and I have truly enjoyed spending weekends with all of you, watching you play with your dogs, and sharing that time together.
I will still be holding the May trial, but I will not be there in person. I will be in Tennessee watching my granddaughter compete in the state track meet and celebrating my grandson’s high school graduation. Because of that, this is my goodbye to all of you in the agility trial community.
Unfortunately, entries have continued to decline. Even after a lot of asking and encouraging, we barely reached enough runs to break even for May. The June trial, which would have been only two weeks later, has just over 100 runs each day. I cannot continue to beg and plead before every trial just to make it possible to hold one.
I will miss these trials very much. They have meant so much to me over the years. I know there are many factors, from gas prices to the number of dog sports competing for everyone’s time, but it is still hard to say goodbye to something that has been such a special part of my life.
Please have a wonderful time at the May trial. I hope to see many of you around in the future, and we would love to have you join us at one of our CSS or Speedway trials.
Thank you for all the years of support, friendship, and memories.
Sincerely,
Kim Malmer
