So proud of this team! Go Rowan and Asher! Big congratulations!

Congratulations to Rowan Scholl, recipient of the 2026 Libby Long Memorial Obedience Award!

This annual $500 award celebrates the accomplishments of ASCA’s next generation of obedience competitors and encourages Junior Handlers to participate in ASCA obedience events.

During the award year, Rowan and Asher completed Asher’s Companion Dog Excellent title and earned several High Scoring Junior honors. The Selection Committee was also especially impressed by Rowan’s essay, which described a difficult trial weekend when Asher was not comfortable or engaged. Rowan chose to scratch their remaining runs rather than continue pushing for qualifying scores.

The Committee felt Rowan’s decision to place Asher’s well-being and their relationship ahead of ribbons and titles demonstrated maturity, sportsmanship, and a genuine understanding of what partnership with our dogs should mean.

Rowan will be recognized during the Welcome Reception at the 2026 ASCA National Specialty in Greeley, Colorado.

Please join us in congratulating Rowan on this well-deserved recognition!

Maui had a good weekend. He worked very hard searching for scent hides during the Wenatchee Kennel Club scent work trail.
He earned 3 Qs to get his advanced buried title, 2 Qs to earn his advance container title, and 1 Q each towards his advanced exterior and interior titles.
I’m sure he would earned his interior title, but I prematurely moved him up to excellent interior. Read my notes wrong. He found all the hides correctly in excellent interior, but timed out seconds before finding the last one.
He alerted on the exterior find, but was to far downwind.
Thank you to the instructors at Wenatchee Kennel Club.
Thank you to the judges, Vicky Lovejoy, Nicole Wright, Tannis Witherspoon and Judith Guthrie for their great hides.

Maui’s first scent trial in the books. We went to the first PNW ASCA scent detection trial. We entered for experience, practice and exposure to new environments. This beginner boy sure surprised me getting 5 out of 8 Qs. We would have gotten 6, but I didn’t call it and we ran out of time.
Handler error on my part.
One more Q in both interior and containers for his titles.
So proud of how well he did.

Today at the ASCA show Kona earned a 195 in masters rally and a 197 in Excellent. She finished the morning with High Combined and High in Trial under judge Laurie Rubin.
