This week, we are happy to tell you all about someone who's been a vital part of the Ennis Veterinary Clinic for the last 16 years!

💙Dr. Courtney Wade💙 is passionate about her patients and loves the challenge of veterinary medicine. Her favorite parts of the job are soft tissue surgery and figuring out those tough medical cases that keep everyone thinking! When she’s away from the clinic, Dr. Wade enjoys hiking and traveling whenever she can, but most of all, she loves spending time with her kids and fiancé. Her own animal family includes a dog (Otis), a cat (Chicken), a ferret (Oscar), and a hedgehog (Uganda).

FUN FACTS:
😂 Most-said phrase at EVC: “What room am I in?”
❤️ Spirit animal/dream pet: Her college dog, Xavier. She misses him so much!
💲 First job: Working at Stripling and Cox, a department store in Ft. Worth
🐪 Most exotic animals she’s worked with: a circus snake, a camel, and a llama!
🤣 What her EVC coworkers tease her about: Giving TMI - - ALL. THE. TIME.

We’re incredibly grateful for the fun energy and excitement Dr. Wade brings to EVC every day. Her ability to connect with and relate to our clients, along with the genuine love she has for her patients, makes her such a special part of our team.

Ennis Vet Clinic will be CLOSED Monday, September 7th, in observance of Labor Day. If your pet is needing to be seen, please schedule an appointment with us before we head into the long weekend!

In addition, if your pet is in need of medication, please call ahead or request a refill in PetDesk to have it filled for pickup before the long weekend.

We will resume our regular business hours on Tuesday, September 8th.

Today, we’re shining the spotlight on 🩷Dr. Kayla Vineyard🩷, who has been part of the Ennis Veterinary Clinic family for the past year and a half!

When she’s away from the clinic, Dr. Vineyard enjoys slowing down with a good book, crocheting, and getting creative with all kinds of arts and crafts. She’s also a proud cat mom to Squeaky, Wheels, and Popeye!

A few fun facts about Dr. Vineyard:
💉 Her favorite clinic skill is ultrasound or surgery.
🐶 Her first job in vet med was as a kennel tech at another clinic.
🐍 She has worked with lots of exotic animals, including tigers, camels, lemurs, monkeys, deer, sloths, kangaroos, snakes, lizards, turtles, and rabbits!
😂 Her EVC coworkers tease her about being short.
💑 Her husband, Rory, is also a veterinarian at EVC!

While Dr. Kayla may be small in stature, she has made a BIG impact on our clinic and the families we serve! We are so fortunate to have her on our team. Her patient demeanor, compassion for our clients, and consistently positive attitude make her such a wonderful veterinarian and an important part of the EVC family.

We’re so excited to celebrate one of our former team members, Tori Quiroga! 🩺🐾

She officially started Texas A&M Veterinary School last week! We’re so proud of her and can’t wait to watch her chase her dream.

UPDATE: They have all found new homes! THANK YOU all for sharing!

PLEASE HELP!
These babies were dumped, and the finder can’t take care of them. They need new homes, or at least fostering, by the end of the day today to avoid being euthanized. Some techs may be able to foster short term if you can’t get by here today. They are unable to stay overnight at the clinic since we’re unsure of vaccination status. There are 3 intact males and 4 spayed females, and we are unsure of exact ages. Description is in the caption of each pic. Please swing by or call the clinic at (972) 875-2647 if interested.

If any of the pack are still here when we close and leave the clinic today at 6:00, we did find a shelter for one of our techs to transport them to.

For nearly four decades, Dr. Mack Boyd has been a familiar and trusted face at Ennis Veterinary Clinic! He has been part of the EVC family since 1987, caring for generations of pets and the families who love them.

When he’s away from the clinic, you’ll often find Dr. Boyd with his cows on the family farm. He also has a few special animals of his own: Marlee, a fox red Labrador Retriever; Scamp, a Palomino gelding; and Duke, a Paint gelding.

His passion for veterinary medicine extends far beyond our community, too! Dr. Boyd volunteers with Christian Veterinary Mission, which helps people all over the world care for their animals, and every March, he heads north to Alaska to help care for the incredible sled dogs competing in the 1,049-mile Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race!

🥵 Texas is HOT, y’all — and this heat is dangerous! 🥵

With an Extreme Heat Warning in effect across much of North Texas, please take a few extra precautions to keep pets safe.

🐾 Keep pets indoors or in a cool, shaded area.
💧 Keep plenty of fresh, cool water available at all times.
🚫 Avoid walks and exercise during the hottest part of the day.
🔥 Remember—pavement can become hot enough to burn paw pads!
🚗 NEVER leave a pet inside a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes.
☀️ Watch for signs of overheating or heatstroke.

If you think your pet may be suffering from heat-related illness, seek veterinary care immediately.

And while you’re keeping your pets cool, check on your elderly relatives and neighbors, too. Make sure they have working A/C, plenty of water and everything they need. Y'all stay cool, and please take care of your people and your pets. 💙🐾
