Scent work is a fun and enriching activity that allows dogs to use one of their greatest natural abilities—their nose! In this introductory class, dogs will learn how to hunt for primary scent (food) hidden in boxes and other objects. As the weeks progress, we’ll build their searching skills and teach you how to work together as a team.

Scent work is great for providing mental stimulation, building confidence, strengthening the bond between you and your dog, and giving them an appropriate outlet for their natural hunting instincts. Best of all, dogs of many different ages and ability levels can enjoy it!

This is our foundation scent work class and is a prerequisite for all of the scent work classes that follow, where we’ll continue building search skills and introduce target odors.

I’m currently looking for a local foster home to care for a small dog for a couple months while I train him/her for a Veteran at cost to them or the foster home. The dog will be friendly with dogs, people and kids. Please let me know if interested.

Meet Victor! He has come a lonnnngggg way with his reactivity. When he first met my tester dogs, he growled, lunged, barked and dragged his owner to them. When allowed contact he responded aggressively to them.

These photos were taken last night where he showed interest on leash but not fixated. When allowed contact, he appropriately sniffed and licked them and then smiled for pets, treats and “good boy” praise!

Well done to Victor and his owner, Matt for putting in consistent training effort to redirect him which produced positive results!

❓What is a microchip & why is it important❓
A microchip is a TINY CHIP, about the size of a grain of rice, that is safely implanted under your dog’s skin. It contains a unique ID number linked to your contact information. If your dog ever becomes lost and is brought to a shelter or veterinary clinic, they can scan the chip and quickly contact you, helping reunite you with your best friend. 😃

❌ Common Misconception:
A microchip is NOT a GPS tracking device. It cannot track your dog’s location in real time. It simply provides permanent identification that can be scanned when your pet is found.

🐱 What about cats?
Unfortunately, this grant covers dogs only. Cat microchipping is available for $25. Please call our office to schedule your cat’s appointment at 607-724-3709 ext. 107.

🏷️ Don’t FURGET an ID tag❗️
A microchip is a great backup, but your pet should always wear a COLLAR with a current ID tag. Make sure the phone number on the tag is up to date so someone can contact you immediately if your pet is found.
