🧡 Happy Ginger Cat Appreciation Day! 🧡

Today we’re celebrating the orange boys (and girls!) who bring a little extra sunshine to our lives.

Fun fact: most ginger cats are male. That’s because the gene responsible for orange coloring is linked to the X chromosome, so male cats only need one copy of the gene to be ginger, while females generally need two.

And there’s another reason ginger-cat parents should pay attention: male cats are at higher risk of urinary blockages. A urinary blockage is a true emergency and can become life-threatening quickly. If your cat is showing signs of being unable to urinate, contact a veterinarian or emergency vet immediately.

So today, give your favorite ginger kitty an extra chin scratch, a treat, and maybe a little extra attention to those litter-box habits. 🧡🐈
