We have two important updates to share about the future of Heartland Hounds.
After extensive planning and careful consideration, we will not be moving forward with the indoor dock diving facility. Inflation and rising project costs have made the investment more than we can responsibly take on.
I know this is disappointing to many of you. I share that disappointment, especially knowing how much enthusiasm and support there has been for this vision. We have been in touch with prospective operators, however, and are hopeful that another great Kansas dock diving operation will be available soon. Those plans will be theirs to announce when they are ready.
We are also selling our downtown location and shifting Heartland Hounds toward remote services and pop-up classes.
Our time downtown has helped us better understand the environments our clients and their dogs need. For dogs working hard to focus, build confidence, and navigate big feelings, the activity and frequent interruptions downtown can make learning more challenging. Event closures and upcoming lengthy road construction add further obstacles to providing the consistent, accessible environment we want for our clients.
Moving forward, we will focus on helping dogs and their people through remote support and pop-up learning opportunities in thoughtfully chosen settings. We will share more details about that transition and upcoming offerings as plans are finalized.
Thank you to everyone who has trained with us, cheered us on, and believed in what we are building. These are difficult decisions, but our commitment to compassionate, positive reinforcement training—and to the dogs and people we serve—continues.
